RULES FOR ALL EXHIBITORS

Rules and regulations of Iowa State University Scott County Extension and the Scott County Extension Staff will govern eligibility of all 4-H ex-hibits and exhibitors.

This program applies to all beef cattle participating in the carcass contest. 1. The dark cutter assessment rate will be $ .50 cwt of the final live weight. For exam-

ple, a 1,200 lb steer would have $6.00 deducted from the check for dark cutter as-sessment.

2. The fee will be assessed on all cattle with the pool of money being divided in early September and adjustment checks mailed to each 4-H’er with a dark cutter carcass.

3. Final dark cutter fund adjustments will be decided by the committee after the num-ber of head, the amount of the discount and if there are any non-management con-demnations to evaluate.

LIVESTOCK SALE FOR MARKET ANIMALS

On Sunday morning, August 4th at 10:00 a.m., there will be a ribbon auc-tion for market animals including beef, beef carcass, swine, meat goat, sheep, poultry and rabbits. Any member who participates in the ribbon sale is only selling the ribbon and not the animal. Members may take their ani-mals in the ring, but will not sell the animal, only the ribbon, If members are planning to show the animal at State Fair, they may not take animals in the ring as anything going to State Fair may not go through a sale ring, re-gardless of if it is sold or not.

Sale registry will be Tuesday through Saturday noon at the 4-H Fair office when the office is open.

All 4-H members participating in the Sale must wear a Scott County 4-H green T-shirt. All FFA members should wear appropriate FFA attire. All shirts must be tucked in. Pants will be blue or black jeans with no holes or tears. Cutoffs, shorts or sandals are not allowed.

The member will pay a $10 fee per unit sold. The money will not be re-funded if the entry is removed from the sale. A portion of this money is used to express public recognition to fair donors and livestock buyers in newspaper advertising. The sale order will be done by computer shuffle. Numbers will be posted that same afternoon. Late registrations will NOT be accepted.
