1. Flower Function
• The flowers of some plants are brightly colored to attract bees and other insects.
The flowers job is to make seeds.

• Petals
• Stamen
• Pistil
• Bee takes nectar from the flower to make honey. It also picks up the pollen on its legs.
Pollen
• Some of the pollen that the bee picks up drops to another flower that it goes to.
This is called Pollination.
• Pollination is the transfer of the pollen from one flower to another flower to make seeds.
Flower Function• Flowers are pollinated by:
–Wind– Insects–Birds
Pollination and Fertilization• Pollination is the transfer of male parts of the flower to
the female parts.
• Fertilization is the uniting of tiny sperm cells in the
pollen to the undeveloped seeds art the base of the
pistil.
Weeds• A weed is any plant that grows where it is unwanted.
• Weeds are very useful as they hold the soil and
prevent soil erosion. Some are useful as dye, or
food.
