Hands-On Workshops Descriptions1. Shoulder Dystocia: Practice new and old techniques for overcoming shoulder dystocia in team-based scenarios.

2. Vaginal Breech Delivery: Learn strategies to avoid and address pitfalls in delivering the breech baby.

3. IUCD Insertion: Add useful tricks and tips to your armamentarium for dealing with the difficult IUCD.

4. Laparoscopic Skills I: Challenge yourself to demonstrate your laparoscopic skills on our new simulators. You must bring your own tablet (eg. iPad) in order to participate.

5. Laparoscopic Skills II: It's all about suturing! Practice suturing and intracorporal knot tying under the direction of our experts. You must bring your own tablet (eg. iPad) in order to participate.

Dress Code: No denim. Men, please wear jackets.

MEDICAL EXPERTAs Medical Experts, physicians integrate all of the CanMEDS Roles, applying medical knowledge, clinical skills, and professional attitudes in their provision of patient-centered care. Medical Expert is the central physician Role in the CanMEDS framework.

COLLABORATORAs Collaborators, physicians effectively work with patients, families, and the healthcare team to achieve optimal patient care.

MANAGER As Managers, physicians are integral participants in healthcare organizations, organizing sustainable practices.

SCHOLARAs Scholars, physicians demonstrate a lifelong commitment to reflective learning as well as the creation, dissemination, application and translation of medical knowledge.

This program is of interest to: Physicians (specifically Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Neonatologists, Family Physicians, Medical Residents) and other health professionals such as: nurses, midwives, physician assistants

• Discuss the history of the development of innovations and changes in care in obstetrics and gynecology, specifically in the areas of fetal assessment, caesarean section, fetal therapies and the prevention of cervical cancer.

• Identify and apply innovations and current evidence related to enhanced recovery after surgery, immunizations in pregnancy, menopause, stress incontinence, extreme preterm delivery and shoulder dystocia.

• Discover the features of hospital planning that contribute to increased patient satisfaction, patient safety and creation of a learning organization by the means of focused tours of the new Womens’ Hospital facility.

• Perform enhanced skills via simulation of IUCD insertion, management of shoulder dystocia, vaginal breech delivery and laparoscopic skills.
