Is your generosity productive ?

Royal Ladies,The Royal Dames do make a BIG difference in the fight against cancer thru

research and education. We are a very Powerful organization and very committed to our community. This is a powerful disease. Ask yourself these questions: Is your generosity productive? In other words, are you giving money, stuff, or time away without accepting responsibility for the consequences? Don’t be foolish. Pay attention to the details of where your giving is going. Remember, each time you give to the Ocala Royal Dames you are making a Wise Investment to Fight Cancer. Our long standing record of 25 years shows how committed our members are to the mission. Are you committed to the Royal Dames? Be a good money manager by making sure your generosity is productive. Start today and make a commitment of your time and talents to help with our mission. We need YOU our Volunteers!

Our “Tailgate Gala” Saturday August 27th, Was a BIG “Sold Out” success! Great fun with the Dames. I OMG the band Second Slice was fabulous! The dance floor included ladies dancing together and having a blast, dancing and laughing. We are not as good as the dancers, but we had a lot of fun. A special thank you to Roz Watson for starting this event last year and her committee. A “BIG” ThankYou! To this year’s Chair Melissa McNichols, Co-Chair Cecilia Truesdale, for their endless work to make this 2nd event a success again. Also to their committee who worked together as a team to have everything so organized. They left the attendees wanting more and to asking if we will do it again in 2012. See the article from the Tailgate Team for the final details.

Volunteer Workshop has been moved to November, The date will be announced in the next issue. To accommodate several new member applications that came in over the summer. Our first member- volunteer workshop retreat will be open to all members, not just our new members. We will go over the history of the dames and what is expected of you when you join a committee. Also go over the how and what we do as an organization. It will be a casual group setting that everyone will enjoy. Chairman: R. Susan Smith, Co-chair: Nancy Porter.

Volunteering is not only the right thing but a good

thing to do… It’s good for you!

Climb for Cancer, is the presenting sponsor for the

Barbara Padilla concert coming up at the UF Center for

the Performing Arts on Sep. 23. Because a portion of

proceeds from this event will support the UF Pediatric

Oncology program (which the Dames also support), Climb

for Cancer has offered to provide complimentary bus

transportation to and from Ocala for Dames and their

guests/friends who want to attend. The bus can

accommodate up to 100 people. Please call 352-622-7363 if

you would like to ride the bus.

After being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Barbara Padilla was told she may never

sing again. Following several rounds of chemotherapy, radiation and a bone marrow

transplant, Padilla beat the odds, eventually becoming first runner-up of the world’s biggest

talent competition in 2009, America’s Got Talent. For the past two years she has performed

as a soloist for many symphonic events around the world, including oratorio and concerts in

America, Italy and Mexico. Padilla will perform classical selections including O Mio Babbino

Caro, Ave Maria and Con te Partiro. As a UFPA Chords of Color for a Cause™ event,

portions of the performance will benefit Pediatric Oncology programs at UF&Shands, P.K.

Yonge Performing Arts and Chords of Color.
