It is argued in the latter that older employees (45 Years and above) are more likely to be absent from work as a result of their decline age.ABSENTEEISM CAUSED BY ACCIDENTS IN SCCL

The main focus for improving the safety in the mines is on improving the awareness and bringing safety consciousness among employees through various programmes/training by devising the same in easily understandable way. Additional thrust is given for improving the safety awareness among contractors workmen. Apart form the above, various measures viz., standarisation of roof bolting activity, introduction of semi mechanization through SDLs/LHDs in underground mines, and provisions of various equipment for prevention/minimizing the adverse effects of accidents were also taken. Evacuations of coal by baskets are completely eliminated in 15 underground mines to reduce deployment of coal fillers at potentially accident prone zones.AreaFeb, 2012Jan- Feb, 2012Feb, 2011Jan- Feb, 2011FatalSeriousFatalSeriousFatalSeriousFatalSeriousAFAIAFAIAFAIAFAIKothagudem--44--55--33--55Yellandu--11--22--11--11Manuguru----1111--11--11Bellampalli--11--33--11--11Mandamarri------11--11--22Srirampur--66--1717--551199Ramagundam-I--66--1313--66111212Ramagundam-II--11--22--55--1010Ramagundam-III--113333--22--44Bhoopalpalli--44--55--22--55Total--2424445252--2727225050Table : Table showing year-wise accidents and fatalities and seriously injuredTable: Total Number of Fatal & Serious Accidents during last ten years.YearFatalSeriousInjury rate per million tonne of productionNo. of AccidentsNo. of Persons InvolvedNo. of AccidentsNo. of Persons InvolvedFatalSerious2012-138142853970.125.232011-1211123223230.236.192010-1110112832930.215.712009-1013164244280.328.492008-0916193913940.438.872007-0811115355380.2713.252006-0716195875920.515.72005-06778058070.1922.332004-0514162912940.458.332003-04194570711.332.1MonthOn other thanextraneous reasonsOn extraneous reasonsTotalNo.Productionlost(Tonnes)No.Productionlost(Tonnes)Number of man days lostProductionlost(Tonnes)Wages lost(`)Value ofProduction lost (`)Feb, 2012--1-1704-2556000-Feb, 20111314032--1121133184921519131155373450002011-12(Up toFeb12)23110912370000016405074011091234298590071074227502010-11(from Apr10 to Mar-11)2--42744416876042984554624820582595616NO.
