PROJECT STATMENT

OPPORTUNITY

SOLUTION

CLIENT

PROBLEM

Oceana, founded in 2001, is the largest international organization focused solely on ocean conservation. The offices in North America, South America and Europe work together on a limited number of strategic, directed campaigns to achieve measurable outcomes that will help return oceans to former levels of abundance. Oceana believes in the importance of science in identifying problems and solutions. They have scientists work closely with teams of economists, lawyers and advocates to achieve tangible results for the oceans.

The opportunity will be to spread awareness through involvement with the community. The goal will be to make the public feel responsible and thereby change their habits to help leave a huge impression on our oceans.

The solution is to create a public service campaign with dramatic and meaningful contrast of marine life habitats and landfills or toxic waste sites. Making the imagery very iconic and graphic will focus the message and create a powerful campaign.

The oceans are in trouble and Oceana needs help to protect and restore them. By creating awareness, sparking curiosity, and generating donations, Oceana will be able to protect the bottom of the sea. Billions of pounds of trash is carried into the ocean either through shoreline recreational activities, dumping, smoking-related activities, or from littering on the streets, which when it rains, floods from the drains into the ocean. This trash is carried down the current and is collected in the convergence zone also called a Vortex, located between Hawaii and California. It is Oceana’s mission to advocate for awareness, a solution and a prevention plan.
