    Back on

CampusIm writing to you at the completion

of my third week of classes

. Once again, Im living in

my fraternity house, hoping to be a

light and inspiration to them as an

    upperclassmen and leader in our

chapter. Even last night, I got to

spend some quality time with one of

the pledges. He wasnt drinking that

night but still wanted to hang out

with people. Not only did we have agreat time getting some Goodfellas

Pizza, but I got to share my spiritual

journey with him, and even the truth

about who Jesus was and how he died

to forgive us of our sins.

Have you ever heard anything like

    this before? I asked him.

Not really, never in this depth

    before, he responded. Although he

had grown up going to church, no one

had ever clearly articulated the true

message of Christianity to him. I was

so glad that I was able to include

    Jesus in our new friendship.

    continued on page 2

I was selected to be part of a seven-

    person leadership team who

planned and organized the 101-person project after the staff-

leaders left. I learned so many

    tangible skills, but most

    importantly, I learned the

    responsibility of leadership, what it

meant to serve those I led, humbly

    work alongside the other leaders,

and how my sinfulness got in theway of those goals! My best friend

over the summer always told me,

Hiram, a leader isnt made by his

talents or gifts, but by the fruit of

    his character.

    Leadership Team

    REACHING THE NATIONS These two

women accepted Christ this summer. They said

they wanted Jesuss forgiveness and believed

that he died for them on the cross! We bought

them bibles in their own lan ua e.

ACTION GROUP A mens and womens

bible study are paired up to make an Action

Group and have fun together. Here we are

    helping serve dinner!

SHARING CHRIST This is a candid picture a

friend took of me meeting up with one of our

pledges in our student center. We talked about

Jesus and how hes completely transformed

    each of our lives.

    Listen to my testimony at

Ive come back to campus with leaps and bounds of spiritual maturity, a magnified desire

to share about Jesuss love, and skills and training to raise up committed followers of

Christ. All of this because of your love and support in prayer and finances, which sent me

to Ocean City, New Jersey this summer.

This was by far, the best summer of my life. I lived alongside 100 other students who

showed me love and grace, but also sharpened me and help me overcome sin in my life. I

could write a book about all the things I learned (and I came close to doing so on myblog), but suffice it to say that you have enabled me to be part of something truly

amazing. You have not only changed my life, but the lives of many others.

I lost count of the number of break-though talks I was a part of. Through

tears, love, and truth, we discovered things like a need to be needed, a self-

worth grounded in performance, deep-seated fears of intimacy, and

destructive pride. Together, we had over 6,300 spiritual conversations, shared

the message of Christianity 3,098 times, and witnessed 396 people indicate a

decision to make Jesus the king of their lives. I personally got to lead two

women from East Asia to a personal-relationship with Jesus, who had each

heard nothing more about him than that he had a hard life!

Ive seen myself bring all these things and more back to my campus. I got to

share my story with nearly 400 students at our first weekly meeting. Ill be able

to implement the lessons I learned about leadership into my new position as the

president of my 60 person fraternity. Ive even seen God answer prayers about

bringing more Christians into the fraternities and reaching more houses. During

our fall retreat Im going to lead workshops about the Holy Spirit and on how to

    lead an engaging bible study.

I am confident that God will continue to work here so that more and more students would

be able to experience his love and plan for their lives. Thank you for investing in me so

that I am able to invest my life into others!
