Revealed & Fulfilled

The script has been written. The stage has been set. Most of what we’ve read from the Old Testament & Prophets will be fulfilled in

the next few years.


Let’s start with prophesies from The Messenger Malachi.

Malachi announces that one is coming to prepare the way for the Lord.


Malachi 3:1 NET "I am about to send my messenger, who will clear the way before me. Indeed, the Lord you are seeking will suddenly come to his temple, and

the messenger of the covenant, whom you long for, is certainly coming," says the LORD who rules over

all.


The Old Testament comes to an end with a prophecy that the prophet Elijah would return.

Malachi 4:5 NET Look, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of the

LORD arrives.


6 He will encourage fathers and their children to return to me, so that I will not come and strike

the earth with judgment."


Closer observation will show us prophesies in Malachi 3:1 & 4:5 are one in the same.

Luke 1:8 NET Now while Zechariah was serving as priest before God when his division was on

duty,


9 he was chosen by lot, according to the custom of the priesthood, to enter the holy place of the

Lord and burn incense.


10 Now the whole crowd of people were praying outside at the hour of the incense offering. 11

An angel of the Lord, standing on the right side of the altar of incense, appeared to him.


12 And Zechariah, visibly shaken when he saw the angel, was seized with fear. 13 But the

angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son;

you will name him John.


14 Joy and gladness will come to you, and many will rejoice at his birth, 15 for he will be great in the sight

of the Lord. He must never drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even

before his birth.


16 He will turn many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God. 17 And he will go as

forerunner before the Lord in the spirit and power of Elijah,


to turn the hearts of the fathers back to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people

prepared for him."


Before Malachi prophesied concerning the one preparing the way for the Lord, Isaiah prophesied.Isaiah 40:3 NET A voice cries out, "In the wilderness clear a way for the LORD; construct in the desert a

road for our God.


4 Every valley must be elevated, and every mountain and hill leveled. The rough terrain

will become a level plain, the rugged landscape a wide valley.


5 The splendor of the LORD will be revealed, and all people will see it at the same time. For

the LORD has decreed it."


We have record of these prophesies being fulfilled in the Gospels.

Matthew 3:1 NET In those days John the Baptist came into the wilderness of Judea proclaiming,

2 "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."


3 For he is the one about whom Isaiah the prophet had spoken: "The voice of one

shouting in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make his paths straight.' "


John 1:19 NET Now this was John's testimony when the Jewish leaders sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, "Who are you?" 20 He

confessed — he did not deny but confessed — "I am not the Christ!"


21 So they asked him, "Then who are you? Are you Elijah?" He said, "I am not!" "Are you the

Prophet?" He answered, "No!"


22 Then they said to him, "Who are you? Tell us so that we can give an answer to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?"


23 John said, "I am the voice of one shouting in the wilderness, 'Make straight the way for the Lord,’ as Isaiah the prophet said."


The one John would prepare the way for was prophesied about almost from the beginning of time. The prophecy does not say he will super-

naturally appear. He would be born of a woman.


Genesis 3:15 NET And I will put hostility between you and the woman and between your offspring

and her offspring; her offspring will attack your head, and you will attack her offspring's heel."


Galatians 4:4 NET But when the appropriate time had come, God sent out his Son, born of a

woman, born under the law,We find how the battle between the serpent

(Satan) and Jesus would take place in Hebrews.


Hebrews 2:14 NET Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, he likewise shared in their

humanity, so that through death he could destroy the one who holds the power of death (that is, the

devil),


15 and set free those who were held in slavery all their lives by their fear of death.

It was promised He would come from a particular man’s family. He would come from

Abraham's family.


Genesis 12:1 NET Now the LORD said to Abram, "Go out from your country, your relatives, and your father's household to the land that I will show

you.


2 Then I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you, and I will make your name

great, so that you will exemplify divine blessing.


3 I will bless those who bless you, but the one who treats you lightly I must curse, and all the families of the earth will bless one another by

your name."


Romans 9:5 NET To them belong the patriarchs, and from them, by human descent, came the

Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever! Amen.


Acts 3:25 NET You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your ancestors,

saying to Abraham, 'And in your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed.'


His mother would be a virgin and His name would be Immanuel, or "God With Us."

Isaiah 7:14 NET For this reason the sovereign master himself will give you a confirming sign.


Look, this young woman is about to conceive and will give birth to a son. You, young

woman, will name him Immanuel.


Matthew 1:22 NET This all happened so that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet would be fulfilled: 23 "Look! The virgin will conceive and bear a son, and they will call him Emmanuel,"

which means "God with us."


He would be a descendant of David and would be given the throne of King David.

Psalms 89:34 NET I will not break my covenant or go back on what I promised.


35 Once and for all I have vowed by my own holiness, I will never deceive David. 36 His dynasty will last forever. His throne will endure before me, like the

sun, 37 it will remain stable, like the moon, his throne will endure like the skies."


Luke 1:31 NET Listen: You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. 32 He will be great, and will be called

the Son of the Most High,


and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David. 33 He will reign over the house of

Jacob forever, and his kingdom will never end."


He would be born in Bethlehem.Micah 5:2 NET (5:1) As for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, seemingly insignificant among the clans of Judah — from you a king will emerge who will rule over Israel on my behalf, one whose origins are in the

distant past.


Matthew 2:5 NET "In Bethlehem of Judea," they said, "for it is written this way by the prophet: 6

‘And you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are in no way least among the rulers of Judah, for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.' "


Luke 2:4 NET So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was of

the house and family line of David.


5 He went to be registered with Mary, who was promised in marriage to him, and who was

expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child.


Israel would mourn the slaughter of many innocents after His birth.

Jeremiah 31:15 NET The LORD says, "A sound is heard in Ramah, a sound of crying in bitter

grief.


It is the sound of Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted,

because her children are gone."


Matthew 2:17 NET Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: 18 "A voice was heard in

Ramah, weeping and loud wailing, Rachel weeping for her children, and she did not want

to be comforted, because they were gone."


He would live in Egypt for a while.

Hosea 11:1 NET When Israel was a young man, I loved him like a son, and I summoned my son

out of Egypt.


Matthew 2:15 NET He stayed there until Herod died. In this way what was spoken by the Lord

through the prophet was fulfilled: "I called my Son out of Egypt."


He would be filled with God's Spirit.

Isaiah 61:1 NET The spirit of the sovereign LORD is upon me, because the LORD has chosen me.


He has commissioned me to encourage the poor, to help the brokenhearted, to decree the

release of captives, and the freeing of prisoners,


2 to announce the year when the LORD will show his favor, the day when our God will

seek vengeance, to console all who mourn,


Luke 4:16 NET Now Jesus came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, as was his

custom. He stood up to read,


17 and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the

place where it was written,


18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and the regaining of sight to the blind,

to set free those who are oppressed,


19 to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." 20 Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to

the attendant, and sat down.


The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on him. 21 Then he began to tell them,

"Today this scripture has been fulfilled even as you heard it being read."


We’ve started to see prophecy fulfilled in John and his relative Jesus. We’ve just started,

there are so many more prophesies we’ll see fulfilled in the New Testament.


God is so faithful in revealing and fulfilling His plans.

With this in mind can we whole heartedly say what the psalmist wrote?


Psalms 119:18 NET Open my eyes so I can truly see the marvelous things in your law! 19 I am like a

foreigner in this land. Do not hide your commands from me! 20 I desperately long to know your

regulations at all times.

Spend Time With Him

We have been given all we need in His Word.2 Peter 1:2 NET May grace and peace be lavished

on you as you grow in the rich knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord!

3 I can pray this because his divine power has bestowed on us everything necessary for life and godliness through the rich knowledge of the one who called us by his own glory and

excellence.

4 Through these things he has bestowed on us his precious and most magnificent promises,

so that by means of what was promised you may become partakers of the divine nature, after escaping the worldly corruption that is

produced by evil desire.

I’m sure I’ve told you before I believe my main job is to encourage you to read and study The

Word of God.

Spend Time With Him

That is the only place we can find Our Savior and Lord, Jesus. Spend time with Him

by spending time reading about Him.
