Road, Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the third phase of Delhi-Meerut

Expressway. It connects Dasna in Ghaziabad to Hapur. The over 22-kilometre long section has been built

at a cost of 1,058 crore rupees. The project is part of 82-kilometre long Expressway which connects Delhi

with Meerut in western Uttar Pradesh.

In Assam, in order to gradually collect and remove the harmful plastics from the ecosystem, Bongaigaon

District administration is going to launch a campaign 'Plants for Plastic'. The campaign aims to encourage

people to collect and remove plastic from their houses, commercial establishments and educational

institutions.

Government has issued a notification regarding minimum stipend payable to trade apprentices.

According to the notification, Trade apprentices will get a minimum monthly stipend ranging from 5

thousand to 9 thousand rupees.

India's first private train Tejas Express was flagged off by UP CM Yogi Adityanath on Lucknow-Delhi route

on 04th September 2019. The train is being operated entirely by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism

Corporation (IRCTC), a subsidiary of Indian Railways. The train will cover distance between Delhi and

Lucknow in six hours and 15 minutes.

revenue collections and administration. The terms of reference of the panel includes making suggestions

related to systemic changes in goods and services tax (GST) including checks and balances to prevent

The first commercial flight from Hindon civil airport adjacent to the Air Force’s Hindon airbase operated

when a nine-seater plane took off for Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district. The flight operations were

launched by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat at a brief ceremony held at the Hindon

airport in NCR Ghaziabad.

India will extend a Line of Credit of over 60 million US Dollars to Comoros in the field of energy and

Central Information and Broadcasting Secretary Amit Khare has been given the additional charge of the

School Education and Literacy Department of the Ministry of Human Resources. Amit Khare is a 1985

UAE announced the establishment of the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence(

MBZUAI), the first graduate-level, research-based AI university in the world. The University is named

Kerala is extending maternity leave benefits to teachers and other staff of private educational

institutions, including those in the unaided sector. With the amendment to the Act comes into force,

Kerala would become the first state in the country to provide maternity benefits in the private

The first-ever India Innovation Index was launched by NITI Aayog in New Delhi in order to promote

The Defence Acquisition Council has approved 3 projects worth Rs 3,300 crore of “indigenously designed

and developed equipments”. The projects include 3rd generation Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGM) and

Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) for the T-72 and T-90 Tanks to be executed by the Indian industry.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated Col. Chewang Rinchen Setu (Bridge) which has been

Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change launched the first national protocol to enumerate

the snow leopard population in the country on the occasion of International Snow Leopard Day. The Day

is celebrated on October 23 every year to protect and conserve the snow leopards and preserve the

beautiful wildlife of the Himalayas.

Panchayati Raj Minister confers National Panchayat Awards 2019. Minister of Panchayati Raj Narendra

Singh Tomar conferred the national Panchayat Awards, 2019 in New Delhi. The Minister also launched

an App called ‘Gram Manchitra’ which is a Geo-Spatial based decision support system for panchayats.

The Union Cabinet has decided to hike Minimum Support Price, MSP, for Rabi crops for marketing

season 2020-21. MSP of wheat has been increased by 85 rupees per quintal to 1,925 rupees per quintal.

While MSP of Gram has been increased by 255 rupees, barley 85 rupees, mustard oil 225 rupees and

sunflower 270 rupees per quintal.

The Union Cabinet has approved cadre review of Group A General Duty (Executive) Cadre and Non-

Gazetted cadre of Indo-Tibetan Border Police, ITBP. It has also decided to create two new Commands

(Western Command at Chandigarh and Eastern Command at Guwahati) to be headed by Additional

Director General and assisted by Inspector General.

The government relaxed the rules for the installation of petrol pumps. According to the decision of the

Cabinet, instead of investing Rs 2000 crore, a company with a net worth of Rs 250 crore can also open a

petrol pump.

Telecom companies MTNL and BSNL will be merged. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet

Committee on Economic Affairs.

Kais Saied has sworn in as the President of Tunisia. He succeeds the late Beji Caid Essebsi, who died in

office in July.

Emperor Naruhito of Japan took the throne. After the coronation ceremony was completed, Emperor

ranking. In its Doing Business 2020 report, the World Bank commended the reform efforts undertaken

Indian Administrative Service officers Girish Chandra Murmu has been appointed as Lt. Governor of

Jammu-Kashmir and R K Mathur as Lt. Governor of Ladakh. The incumbent Governor of the Jammu and

Kashmir Satya Pal Malik has been moved to Goa. The two Union Territories will come into existence on

31st October.

CEO- Prasar Bharati, Shashi Shekhar Vempati gave away Rajbhasha Awards to the winners of Hindi

Pakhwada competition held at Prasar Bharati secretariat. Winners, who received awards, are employees

thousand earthen lamps or Diyas.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the services of new number - 112, in a ceremonial function at

Lucknow. The new single helpline number 112 is an integration of all immediate assistance including

police, fire, women helpline and ambulance. Dial 100 was launched by the previous government in 2016

as an ambitious high-tech project for providing immediate aid.

Fourth Ayurveda Day with a theme of 'Ayurveda for Longevity' was celebrated in Leh. In a programme

organized in National Research Institute for Sowa-Rigpa, the traditional Sowa-Rigpa practitioners called

Amchis from various parts of the Ladakh have participated. Sowa-Rigpa is one of the medical practices

recognized under Ministry of Ayush, practised in Himalayan states and countries.

Indian Railways have introduced a new One Time Password (OTP) based refund system for tickets

booked through authorized railway ticketing agents. The initiative is aimed at bringing in a transparent

and customer-friendly refund system for reserved e-tickets which are cancelled or which are fully wait-

listed dropped tickets.

Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde was appointed as the 47th Chief Justice of India.Justice Bobde will take

oath as the CJI on November 18th, a day after incumbent Ranjan Gogoi demits office. He will have a

tenure of 17 months and would demit office on April 23rd, 2021.

President Ram Nath Kovind conferred the first National Corporate Social Responsibility Awards to the

companies for their outstanding contribution in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

The bilateral 'Exercise SHAKTI' between the armies of India and France will be conducted from 31st

October to 13th November 2019 at Foreign Training Node in Mahajan Field Firing Ranges, Rajasthan.

In order to increase the vote percentage in the elections, the government has provided the facility of

voting to the elderly and differently-abled voters above 80 years of voting by postal ballot. On the

recommendation of the Election Commission, the Law Ministry has issued a notification to implement

this decision on 22 October.

till 2nd November, to promote probity in public life through citizen participation. The theme for the
