Road, Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the third phase of Delhi-Meerut
Expressway. It connects Dasna in Ghaziabad to Hapur. The over 22-kilometre long section has been built
at a cost of 1,058 crore rupees. The project is part of 82-kilometre long Expressway which connects Delhi
with Meerut in western Uttar Pradesh.
In Assam, in order to gradually collect and remove the harmful plastics from the ecosystem, Bongaigaon
District administration is going to launch a campaign 'Plants for Plastic'. The campaign aims to encourage
people to collect and remove plastic from their houses, commercial establishments and educational
institutions.
Government has issued a notification regarding minimum stipend payable to trade apprentices.

Lucknow in six hours and 15 minutes.

Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change launched the first national protocol to enumerate
the snow leopard population in the country on the occasion of International Snow Leopard Day. The Day
is celebrated on October 23 every year to protect and conserve the snow leopards and preserve the

Panchayati Raj Minister confers National Panchayat Awards 2019. Minister of Panchayati Raj Narendra

The Union Cabinet has decided to hike Minimum Support Price, MSP, for Rabi crops for marketing
season 2020-21. MSP of wheat has been increased by 85 rupees per quintal to 1,925 rupees per quintal.
While MSP of Gram has been increased by 255 rupees, barley 85 rupees, mustard oil 225 rupees and
sunflower 270 rupees per quintal.
The Union Cabinet has approved cadre review of Group A General Duty (Executive) Cadre and Non-
Gazetted cadre of Indo-Tibetan Border Police, ITBP. It has also decided to create two new Commands
(Western Command at Chandigarh and Eastern Command at Guwahati) to be headed by Additional
Director General and assisted by Inspector General.
The government relaxed the rules for the installation of petrol pumps. According to the decision of the
Cabinet, instead of investing Rs 2000 crore, a company with a net worth of Rs 250 crore can also open a
petrol pump.
Telecom companies MTNL and BSNL will be merged. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet
Committee on Economic Affairs.
Kais Saied has sworn in as the President of Tunisia. He succeeds the late Beji Caid Essebsi, who died in
office in July.
Emperor Naruhito of Japan took the throne. After the coronation ceremony was completed, Emperor

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the services of new number - 112, in a ceremonial function at
Lucknow. The new single helpline number 112 is an integration of all immediate assistance including
police, fire, women helpline and ambulance. Dial 100 was launched by the previous government in 2016
as an ambitious high-tech project for providing immediate aid.
Fourth Ayurveda Day with a theme of 'Ayurveda for Longevity' was celebrated in Leh. In a programme
organized in National Research Institute for Sowa-Rigpa, the traditional Sowa-Rigpa practitioners called
Amchis from various parts of the Ladakh have participated. Sowa-Rigpa is one of the medical practices

Indian Railways have introduced a new One Time Password (OTP) based refund system for tickets
booked through authorized railway ticketing agents. The initiative is aimed at bringing in a transparent
and customer-friendly refund system for reserved e-tickets which are cancelled or which are fully wait-
listed dropped tickets.
Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde was appointed as the 47th Chief Justice of India.Justice Bobde will take
oath as the CJI on November 18th, a day after incumbent Ranjan Gogoi demits office. He will have a
