A school resource officer from the Bloomington Police Department was here to witness and assist with the drill. Our students did a great job with the drill! Students rode the bus from Fox Creek to Eastview. They were excellent throughout all aspects of the drill, evacuation from and return to Fox Creek. I am so impressed and so proud of them! Thank you for your efforts to get your children to school on time each day. This helps our students start their day on the right note, and it keeps them from missing important educational experiences. Students arriving after 7:45 a.m. will need to be signed in at the front office by a parent or guardian. Please be sure to contact us if you have any questions. We are always happy to help! Parent/Teacher Conferences will be October 25th. Teachers should be contacting you regarding times to sign up for this day. If you have questions please contact your child's teacher. Thank you, and have a great start to Fall! Leslie Davenport, Principal [email protected]

Start with Hello Week

Last week, Fox Creek participated in Start With Hello week to encourage a culture of connection, inclusion and to raise awareness for signs their peers may feel lonely or isolated. The week included a spirit week, about me activities, and students were sorted into their house! In the pictures below you can see staff members introducing each house to students before they opened their letter in our special sorting assembly. After finding out what house they were in, students attended their first house meeting! They met other members of their house, learned a special house handshake, and received a bracelet with their house color. Students were very excited!

The house system is an idea adopted from the Ron Clark Academy to give students the opportunity to connect across classes and grades who may not normally have a chance to interact. This will help students gain more friendships and create a family-like culture at our school. We currently have about 300 students at Fox Creek Elementary. The house system will make our school seem a little bit smaller. Each house has it's own meaning, color, and animal. Houses will meet once a month and talk about different social/emotional topics. All staff members at Fox Creek have been sorted into houses and will help lead House Meetings once a month.

This year we will celebrate our Fall classroom parties on Thursday, October 31st. Students may bring their costumes this day and change into them at school. A Halloween Parade around Fox Creek will begin at 1:15 and classroom Halloween Parties will begin at 1:30. If you plan to volunteer to help at your child's party you must complete a background check prior to the 31st. Please contact the front office for more information. Thanks in advance for volunteering and/or donating treats, beverages, or other supplies for this fun day!

The Blue Ribbon Book Fair will be at Fox Creek the week of October 21st in the IMC. A variety of books will be available to purchase. We encourage you to stop by on Friday, October 25th during Parent/Teacher Conferences to browse our selection. All proceeds will be used to buy additional books for our Fox Creek Library! Students can buy BOO grams for their friends the

week of Oct 21-25. They will be delivered to classrooms on Oct 31. Each BOO gram costs $0.50, and all proceeds will go to Fox Creek.
