I Shall Live In The House Of The LORD All The Days Of My Life.

We are the Christian Community of Saint Maximilian Kolbe, a Catholic parish of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. Embracing our many and diverse gifts, we are united in Christ Jesus. Challenged by the teachings of Our Lord, and inspired by the example of our Patron, we strive to serve God, and to minister to others, in prayer, sacrament, faith formation, and charity.

OUR PARISH MISSION

REFLECTIONS…..

“On this mountain, the Lord of hosts will provide for all peo-ples a feast of rich food and choice

wines” (Isaiah 25:6). That’s what Isaiah tells us today. God is putting together a huge party for “all peo-ples,” to “wipe away the tears from every face” (Isaiah 25:8). And what does Jesus tell us? The reign of God, he says, “may be likened to a king who gave a wed-ding feast for his son” (Matthew 22:2). When the guests didn’t come, the king had his servants go out “into the main roads and invite to the feast whomever you find” (Matthew 22:9). We are called to deliver that invita-tion. One of the themes woven into today’s liturgy is that of divine generosity. Asleep to reality, people often think they have “earned” what they have. In our better moments, though, we know that all our gifts, even the spiritual gifts, come through God’s generosity. Our vocation is to invite people, to remind them the tickets aren’t for sale. We can only show up and say thank you. JS. Paluch Co .

Our parish will celebrate World Mission Sunday next weekend. This year we are invited to reach out and help build the Church in Mongolia, the world’s youngest Catholic Church, as well as local churches throughout the Missions, in the most remote areas across our world. Through the work of these churches, and their witness to Christ, the poor receive practical help and experience God’s love and mercy, His hope and peace. Please keep the Missions in your daily prayers. Please come prepared next weekend to give generously in the collection for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith. For more information, please visit www.IAmAMissionary.org.

WE WILL HAVE A 2ND COLLECTION

HUMAN TRAFFICKING AT OUR DOOR

"Believe it or not, the horrific crime of human trafficking—the "recruitment, transportation, harboring or receipt of persons by means of force, fraud or coercion"—runs right through the heart of Houston. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the I-10 corridor is designated as the No. 1 route for human trafficking in the country, and an estimated 25 percent of victims in the U.S. are trafficked through Texas. How can you be part of the solution to the evil of modern-day slavery? The USCCB suggests several ways you can actively work individually and as a parish: LEARN: Visit www.usccb.org/stopslavery to learn more about human trafficking. PRAY: Lead a gathering or pray on your own for victims of this crime, the law enforcement and justice professionals working to stop it, and the social service organizations helping survivors. LEAD: Lead a workshop to educate fellow Catholics and others about the human consequences of this crime. Parishes can serve as a meeting place to discuss this issue and as a center for action to help survivors and those at-risk. ACT: Report trafficking if you suspect it. Visit the USCCB site to learn more about how to identify a potential victim and what you can do to help. You can report tips on potential cases of human trafficking to the National Human Trafficking Hotline 1-888-373-7888. (Excerpted in part from the USCCB Anti-Trafficking Program)

TODAY’S READINGS… First Reading — On this mountain the LORD will make for all peoples a feast of rich food and choice wines (Isaiah 25). Psalm — I shall live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life (Psalm 23). Second Reading — God will supply whatever you need (Philippians 4:12-20). Gospel — I have prepared my banquet, and everything is ready. Come to the feast! (Ma hew 22:1-14).

For His Name Sake

Do you want your child to have a closer relationship to Jesus Christ? Do you want your child to more fully understand their Catholic faith? Do you want your child to appreciate Scripture? If your answer is “yes”, then Continuing Christian Education (CCE) faith formation can help accomplish these goals. If you have a school age child that you have not enrolled in our CCE faith formation classes, contact Glenda Stachowiak, the Director of Faith Formation, in the parish office to discuss available options for your child to receive their faith formation.

HOLY SMOKE! One little girl was asked by her Faith Formation teacher how she liked the singing at Mass that morning. “I liked it very much,” she said, “although I heard a lot of people said it was bad.” “Bad, what do you mean, my dear?’ asked the teacher. “Oh, it was so bad that I heard the people praying, “Lord, have mercy upon us miserable singers.”
