October Health Emphasis

“…a time to keep and a time to throw away.” Ecclesiastes 3:6 NIV

Most everyone at some point has medication in their cupboard that they no longer take or which is expired. Proper disposal is important to ensure that no

one takes the medication unintentionally or illegally and to protect the environment.

One way is to take the medication out of its original container and mix with a

substance like kitty litter, coffee grounds, or other household product that will make

it undesirable to anyone or thing that might go through garbage. Lastly, check your community for a drug ‘take-back’

program that centrally gathers medication for disposal. These methods will prevent

our water supply from being contaminated and our children or pets from ingesting the

medication.
