Dear Friend of Annunciation Parish & School, On October 18th, the Catholic Church celebrates the Feast of Saint Luke. This is a very special day, especially in the life of Annunciation Parish, as it is the Anni- versary of the Dedication of Annuncia- tion Church. (Our parish church was dedicated on October 18, 1931.) Saint Luke is an Evangelist, or a Gospel writer. Both the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles are attributed to Luke. How fitting that our parish church - the Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary - was dedicated on the Feast of Saint Luke, as it is only in Luke’s Gospel that we find the story of the Annunciation. Because Saint Luke, in his Gospel, tells us stories of Mary such as the Annunciation and Mary’s Visitation to Elizabeth that we find no where else in Scripture, tradition says that Saint Luke wrote (or painted) the first icon, or image, of Mary. Saint Luke is also one of the patron saints of our art classes here at Annunciation Parish. Was Your Pet Blessed Last Week?

Our Annunciation Catho-

lic School students, pre-

school-3rd grade, joined

together to celebrate

Saint Francis of Assisi’s

October 4th feast day.

They started out with

reading a book and hav-

ing a discussion based on

what they had learned about

the life of St. Francis of Assisi.

Then they listened to music

and decorated animal masks

while students went to another

table to receive animal

“tattoos”. After the craft, all prayed the Prayer of St. Fran-

cis together.

Animal Masks!

It’s Happening at

Annunciation!

On October 4, the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, we celebrated our annual Blessing of Pets. Parishioners, school fami-

lies, and other neighbors and friends brought their pets for the celebration. You can view all of the photos here.
