TWENTY EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME 2 Kings 5:14-17, 2 Timothy 2:8-13

Luke 17:11-19 Brief Reflection: The word of God is powerful enough to cleanse us of sickness and sin. The first reading and the Gospel show us miraculous cures from the terrible disease of leprosy. Through faith and trust, those who were sick listened to and followed the direction of their healers and regained their lives and standing in the community. Nothing is beyond God’s capabilities, including forgiving our most egregious sins.

A Word from Fr. James… Dear brothers and sisters, This past weekend was the Rosary Bowl in Salem. It was great to see so many familiar faces and new faces gathering from all around to celebrate the Rosary and of course our Blessed Mother. Our own Jeannine Eisenbacher and a number of our youth lead the singing for Mass and later Benediction in the afternoon. They did an excellent job! I want to thank all of those from our parish that volunteered at this event and attended. You represented our parish well! I would invite everyone to mark their calendars for the first Saturday in Oc-tober for Rosary Bowl 2020. Next Sunday, October 20th, I invite you to attend Sacred Heart – St. Louis Harvest Potluck. It will begin at 11:15 am and will be held at the Sacred Heart gym. Please see the bulletin and advertisements for what to bring. It is a potluck, so we would ask that you please bring something to share. We will also have a dessert contest. It is a great time to gather together with our parish family to build com-munity with the Body of Christ. Not only are we nourished by the Eucharist during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, but we are nour-ished when we gather as the Body of Christ as a Faith Community. It is also a time during these harvest days to give thanks for God’s bounty that he has given to us this past year. I hope to see you all there! During these autumn days, as the leaves are changing colors and the cool crisp foggy mornings begin once again, we are reminded to give thanks—to thank God in particular for all that he has given to us---the fruits of the earth that we harvest and the ability to do the work with our bodies. Sometimes we don’t remember to stop to give thanks to the one who gives all things. This Sunday in the Gos-pel we hear of the ten lepers that were healed, yet only one gave thanks. Let us not be like the nine lepers who were ungrateful. Have a blessed week! Fr. James

Prayer Intentions Let us pray for those who are sick in our commu-nity. Remember these parishioners and friends of the Parish in your prayers:

Laura Morley Marge Wallace May you find consolation in knowing that you are thought of and prayed for in this time of need.

¡Representaste bien a nuestra parroquia!

Baptism Our parish welcomes Roselyn Sanchez Cruz, Norah Grace Wolf and Joseph Thomas Hoy, , who were all baptized in our church this weekend. May the Lord watch over your life and may we all walk by the light of faith and attain the good things He has promised to us.
