Secrets from Salem Origin of the Black Squirrels
About seven years ago, the now infamous Black Squirrels of Salem first
appeared. They are often found jumping around the Phillips Library or
the Fountain Stage. Zoologists insist that they are a melanistic subset of the Eastern Gray Squirrel, but we know better. An unnatural liaison between gray squirrels and the devil brought this dangerously cute mutation to town. Robert Johnson would be jealous if he were still around.
How to Spot a Street Preacher There are some tale-tell signs for
identifying the now famous visiting Street Preachers who come to Salem each October. On the whole, they are really nice guys - when you get them
alone. Here is how to spot one: 1) They dress up like cotton farmers, 2) They carry signs with encouraging
words about Hell and Judgment, 3) They might hold a conversation
with you through a bullhorn.
The Most Frequently Photographed Objects in Witch City
The largest number of cameras, iPhones, and government drones secretly whirring overhead appear at the Haunted Happenings Parade, but here is a run down of the 5 most photographed objects/individuals in town last week:
5. Nosferatu in front of Trolley Depot 4. Zombies eating your child during the Zombie march 3. Girls hanging clumsily off the Bewitched statue 2. Ellen Talkowski (The city event coordinator is everywhere. Like Alfred Hitchcock she makes a cameo in the background of every photo.)
1. Your finger (you might want to move it away from the lens)

Unreal Events
Each October surprises appear from out of nowhere. We hear about those moments and
share them here with you.
Nosferatu Spooks the Museum Last Sunday night after most of the visitors had scurried back home from a day of witchery and exorcisms, the
infamous vampire appeared at the top of the museum. We caught his ghastly image. A voice from above
threatened that this might appear some night in Salem again before the month is over.
Beware the Man with the Long Lens Dressed as a mild mannered photographer, John
Andrews is out to steal your soul. As the owner of the Creative Salem, he will be taking photos of events
around the city, and you will be caught. The number of souls in his magic camera is beyond count. But with the
loss of your soul comes fame. If you can’t find your husband, and he’s not in the bar, check John’s camera.
Places to Eat on the Water Spooky things come out of Salem Harbor. You might want to be there when it happens. You can sit over the water and watch the monsters crawl out of the frigid North Atlantic at Finz and Sea
Level on Pickering Wharf.
Hauntingly Good Food Last Saturday, a family of four visited Bambolina. After eating they returned to the Fountain Stage for the live music. Mom thanked us for sending the family to Bambolina saying, “It’s the best pizza I’ve ever had.”
Looking for Asian street food? Salem’s got it. Kokeshi feels like a world away, but it is just a couple blocks from the Fountain Stage
on Lafayette Street.
Visitors Read Our Mail! For Free. Last year one of the Salem locals was seen running around holding her head screaming, “Don’t do that to
me! Don’t do that to me! Do it again! Do it again!” Apparently, the team of trained dream interpreters and
spiritual readers said something that hit quite close to home. The team from PA is back this Friday and
Saturday at the Fountain Stage. The freakout is free.
