Oh Lord, give us a mind that is humble, quiet, peaceable, patient and charitable, and a taste of your Holy Spirit in all our thoughts,
words, and deeds. O Lord, give us a lively faith, a firm hope, a fervent charity, a love of
you. Take from us all lukewarmness in meditation and all dullness in prayer. Give
us fervor and delight in thinking of you, your grace, and your tender compassion toward
us. Give us, good Lord, the grace to work for the things we pray for.

10 Ways to Support Her When She is Expecting “As a mom who had my first baby in college, I
know that an unexpected pregnancy can sometimes bring fear, shame, and doubt. Perhaps one of your friends has become
pregnant unexpectedly. I encourage you to support her in her new journey of being a
mother. It’s okay if you don’t know the perfect words to say. Let her know you are there for her, and ask how you can support her. Assist her in lining up practical help. She may not
feel she “deserves” to show happiness; reassure her its okay (and good) to be happy. Your
support might be the only support she receives. You can make a difference in her life. Will
you?” Immaculate Heart Center
Each year, IHRC invites parishioners in the diocese to a brunch, to celebrate retreat ministry, inform people about

Noon. If you would like to attend this brunch/presentation, and sit at the table hosted by Fr. Pat, please contact the

Ways for you to help the Society of St. Vincent de Paul to help others:
1. If you have a car, truck, boat, airplane, or other vehicle you would like to donate to St. Vincent’s, connect to www.onecarhelpssvdp.com or call 800-322-8284. The process is easy, quick, and uses the value of your vehicle to help those in need.
2. It is possible to direct some of the charitable donations made by the following companies:
Fred Meyer: Fred Meyer will donate to the Spokane Council of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul based on the level of spending of their customers who have linked their rewards card to St. Vincent’s. Simply go to their website (www.fredmeyer.com/community reward) and link your Rewards card to our organization (our ID number is 86427). It costs nothing, but increases the amount Fred Meyer will donate to SVDP. Amazon: If you make purchases at Amazon.com, you can now use AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com). This web address: http://smile.amazon.com/ch/91-1934978 will link you to the Spokane District Council of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul as your eligible organization.

TABERNACLE The process of review of the placement of the tabernacle in our church has been completed. The Pastoral Council
recommended a survey of parishioners be conducted, which was done over the course of 2 weeks over the summer. 111 parishioners expressed a preference to the place the tabernacle where it was originally going to be in the
church remodel and where it was placed in October, 2016—to the left of the altar (looking at the sanctuary from the entrance of the church); 20 parishioners expressed a preference for leaving it where it was moved to in
November of 2016—in the center of the sanctuary. In continuing its discussion in light of these survey results, the Pastoral Council recommended that the bishop be asked for permission to place the tabernacle where it was
originally designed to be, to the left of the altar. The bishop, during his visit here on October 4, evaluated this recommendation, viewed the space in the sanctuary, and gave permission to place the tabernacle in the original
spot. This will be done in time for the new liturgical year, the first Sunday of Advent. Your reverence as you enter the church remains the same: either a genuflection (bending of the knee to the floor) or a deep bow (from the
waist), in adoration of Jesus Christ present in the Blessed Sacrament reserved in the tabernacle (Catechism of the Catholic Church, #1378).

Why a Catholic School?
Parents choose Catholic schools for their children because of high academic standards, values-added education, and a safe school environment. At St. Thomas More Catholic School teachers are not only devoted to the academic excellence of your child but more importantly, we work with you as a family to develop the closes possible relationship with God.
Why St. Thomas More? Catholic Identity – Our Mission is “To Know, Love, and Serve God” in all we say, do, and pray. Academic Excellence – We take pride that we teach students to “learn how to learn”. Community – Caring for one another, for each other’s families, and appreciating the unique gifts and talents that each
student and their family brings to St. Thomas More is our way of living out the teachings of the Gospels. Service – St. Thomas More Catholic School believes strongly that the words of the gospel are meant to be learned, studied,
and PUT INTO ACTION! C+STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, with a Catholic component
A C+STEM program provides a focus for students to show appreciation, care, and reverence for God’s creation. This program begins with a fully installed and equipped science lab and a spiraling curriculum. We have a strong program of teaching coding and robotics beginning in Kindergarten and growing throughout the grades. We have a vegetable garden and a greenhouse to grow food that is used for our St. Vincent de Paul ministry and for Catholic Charities programs to help those in need. Our greenhouse program is beginning a new program in teaching the children about aquaponics – the harvesting of fish and growing of food in a closed environment through the entire year – this program will teach students about self-sufficiency and best practices for using God’ resources for the good of others. This program works with students to learn real-world problem solving skills.
We have classes in Art, Music, and Physical Education. We have programs that teach Spanish as a foreign language and outdoor education
programs that combine hands-on learning about our environment as well as teaching and learning about cooperative learning and leadership skills.
