It has given me the confidence and the ability to become a productive member of society again through having a strong spiritual foundation and through the valuable counseling I’ve received along the way. What have you been able to accomplish during your stay here? Since I have been here, I have not drank and have rebuilt a relationship with God. Celebrated

71 Years

On April 9

Congratulations to newly employed Gary Davis! - a New Life Addiction Treatment Program Guest

who came to the Mission one year and four months ago...

What was your childhood like? I am the oldest of four children. My siblings and I were raised by our mother after our father passed

away when I was five years old. My mom was a functioning alcoholic and re-married four times.

Who introduced you to drugs? My friends who introduced me to marijuana when I was 15 years old.

What happened after you began using drugs? I got married at 18 years old and began a family, but continued to use marijuana for the next 25 years. Despite my drug use, I was able to maintain management positions for over 23 years. After 26 years of marriage, my wife left me. That’s when I became a full-blown alcoholic and my life began to fall apart.

How did you hear about the Mission? I was in jail for a drunk driving offense when I heard about the Mission through the court system, which told me about the New Life Addiction Treatment Program.

How has the New Life Addiction Treatment Program helped you so far? It has given me the confidence and the ability to become a productive member of society again through having a strong spiritual foundation and through the valuable counseling I’ve received along the way.

What have you been able to accomplish during your stay here? Since I have been here, I have not drank and have rebuilt a relationship with God. I am most thankful for the direction in my life, sober-living, a safe place to sleep, counseling and educational opportunities. I just recently became employed and am looking forward to being self-sufficient and giving back to the Mission.

Thank you for giving to help other homeless men (and women) like me!
