Community Outreach Event Sunday, October 20th 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm
Boyd Rinehart & Tyler Mulvany were challenged through #KingdomWorker Cards at CIY Move this summer to host 6 community outreach events. So far, they’ve helped organize the children’s area at No Strings Attached and hosted a Family Movie Night at Pocket Park. This will be their 3rd event. They’re asking church members to be a part of this event by helping run fall carnival type games and decorating their vehicles with fall/Halloween themes and passing out candy. The event location is still being finalized but they will have that information soon. On October 6th and 13th there will be sign-ups in the foyer for service/volunteer opportunities for this event. Mark it down on your calendars!
2013 Oil Belt Serv-a-thon What is a Serv-a-thon?
On Oct. 27th, students will be working around the community and/or at Oil Belt Christian Service Camp. We are encouraging 3rd – 12th graders to ask 30 sponsors to support them in one of two ways: sponsors can give a one-time gift or a specific
amount per hour of work that the student completes.
100% of the money raised will go to the Oil Belt "Come Together" Campaign. The camp is keeping track of all the money received.
The purpose of the campaign is to build a new activities building and swimming pool on the camp's property! YAY!
We are encouraging each participant to raise $500. Don't be intimidated by this number!
If each participant has 30 sponsors and each sponsor donates $20 then they have reached their goal!
Our overall goal for the Serv-a-thon is $15,000!
Orders are being taken Sunday,
September 29th in the Family Life Center for RBCC t-shirts. They are nice to
wear to walk in the Fall Festival parade & they can be a great discussion starter.
(You don’t have to order a shirt to walk in the parade.
Any Red Brush shirt is fine.) See Mary Drewes for details.
Attention: Business Owners
To reach out to the community, Red Brush is taking advantage of a mailing service that sends a
postcard to every family that moves within 15 miles of the church. We then receive each family’s
contact info. We would like put together a welcome packet which includes helpful information as well as coupons to local businesses. If you would like for
your business to be included, please create a coupon & email it to Dusty at: [email protected]
by the first of the year.

Red Brush Christian Church
Evangelism Campaign 2013 Update
In June we canvassed Louisville, Hord, Bible Grove, Iola and parts of
Flora, finding many families who were interested in knowing more about
Christ. In July we did follow up, visiting each family again. Several decisions
were made. At the beginning of August we invited the community to No
Strings Attached, and even more visitors came. Since the middle of August,
I have been calling on families a fourth time, generally on Wednesday
nights. This Monday and Wednesday, I will go out calling again and I
believe I will be near the end of the calling list by week’s end.
It’s been a few weeks since we’ve had decisions and that always
concerns me. However, just last week I had another reminder from God
that He was still working. I visited someone who said that God had been
working on him. He was really needing encouragement to follow God’s
urgings to get back in church and then I showed up at his door. God
always puts me in the right places at the right times.
That call was followed by a different kind of confirmation. The next door
I went to, I heard someone shout, “Come in.” When I walked through the
door, the gentleman saw me and groaned. He said, “I’m tired, I’m in a bad
mood and I’ve got to go to work early tomorrow morning. I don’t need this
right now.” I replied, “If you don’t want me to come back, just say so.” He
said, “It’s not that I don’t want you to come back, just not tonight.” I was
ready to give up on him, but he left the door open, even if only just a crack.
I was reminded of a call I made during our first campaign in 2008. I had
been to see this family four times and I was hesitant to go again. The last
time I was there, the husband seemed annoyed. Still I went once more.
They were polite without making any promises to attend. I figured I had
given it my best shot and they just weren’t going to come around. But as I
was walking away from the front porch, the woman shouted, “Don’t give
up on us.”
Every time I am about ready to throw in the towel, God reminds me that
this is what He wants me to do and that He’s still working even when I can’t
see it. Please pray daily for people to accept Jesus and lives to be
changed through this campaign. As Paul wrote in Ephesians 6:19, “Pray
also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so
that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel.”
Dusty
Congratulations & Welcome to the Family!
We’ve added a brother AND a sister in Christ since our last newsletter. On August 27th, Kevin Grill made his confession of faith & was baptized for the forgiveness of all his sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit. Later that same evening, Tracy Evans made the same decision and was baptized. It’s so exciting to welcome them to the Red Brush Family and even more exciting that they are now a part of the Family of God. Please continue praying for many others who are on the verge of making decisions.

Be
Greetings Senior Saints! Well Spring has sprung, Summer is gone, and Fall has
officially fell. I just wanted to let you know that the Senior Saints will meet for its regular
monthly meeting on Monday, October 7th at 11:30 a.m. With the temperature a little cooler
now, we’re going to have a SOUP, SALAD, SANDWICH and DESSERT menu for this
potluck. Please check out the sign-up sheet at Connection Corner so we will know what
people are bringing. As you know, we cancelled last month’s meeting due to Labor Day, but
several of us went to the Senior Adult Day at Oil Belt on September 5th. David Upchurch did
a great job speaking. His theme was “Still In His Service.” Anita Newlin did a great job
leading the singing. She led a lot of old songs we haven’t heard in a while. Those attending
were: Betty Phillips, Betty Klanke, Ben & Kay Johnson, Lana Fender, Don & Sally Shreffler,
Chris Mullens, Betty Jones, Charles & Mildred Cox, Larry Bartels and Gene Keller.
With the changing of the seasons, it’s just another reminder that our great God is still in
control. Why not invite a friend and come with some ideas of an outing for the Seniors.
