October 2015
Dear Parents, Welcome to this first edition of the OURPLANET International School Muscat newsletter for this academic year. You will see that our newsletter is packed with lots of information. Of course, you can always find out more about our school on our website and on our Facebook page. At OURPLANET School we believe that a good school is a team effort between the children, the staff and, of course, you as parents. We want you as parents to be involved in your child’s education and follow their progress every step of the way. To that end it was wonderful to see so many happy parents and children during our three way conferences. It’s also great to see so many of our families using the OURPLANET recycling centre. Please do your small part for the environment by recycling your plastic and aluminum cans at the school. Your efforts will help make our planet a better and more sustainable place for us all. Let me take this opportunity of wishing you all a happy Islamic New Year. I hope you enjoy this time with your families. Robert Jones Founding Principal Regards, Robert Jones, Founding Principal.

Reading
Stories KG1 is looking at different stories. They have heard about The Hungry Caterpillar and made some of their own butterflies, caterpillars and cocoons. The children loved learning the life cycle of the butterfly dance. Literacy consultant Dee Reid, who works with schools across the United Kingdom, advises letting children choose their own books as “That’s a skill in itself, and means they’ll be more committed to finishing it.”
