Read/Walk-a-thon Our largest school fundraiser is underway. Essex students are eager and ready to seek out sponsors for our Read/Walk-a-
thon which will take place on Friday, October 25th. The rain date will be Monday, October 28th. The students will be walking
in the morning and reading in the afternoon. Students can hand in their money to their teacher any day after October 4tht
and up to October 25th, 2019.
The top three sellers in the school will win a prize! Prizes for ballot draws will include books, basketballs, footballs, volleyballs,
soccer balls, gift cards, and various other items. Please see the fundraising letter sent home this week for more prize details.
In addition, individual teachers may set up additional incentives for the fundraiser. Thank you for your support!

The Town of Essex does not have anyone to fill in when crossing guards are absent and are looking for people who would be
willing to work as crossing guards.
Kiss & Ride Procedures Please pull up all the way to the Kiss & Ride sign to allow for multiple cars to pull in to our long lane. This will allow for
multiple cars and students to disembark safely from their vehicles and proceed when all vehicles have unloaded. As well, to
ensure the safety of everyone, we ask that adults remain in their vehicles as to not slip, trip and fall in our Kiss & Ride area. It
is also very important for students to cross at assigned crosswalks and not through the Kiss & Ride, as vehicles are constantly
moving through the area. This will help keep traffic flowing smoothly in the morning so our staff can quickly assist in the safe
arrival of all our students.
Morning Student Safety Reminder that student supervision begins at 8:20am on our school grounds. No student should be on school grounds prior
to 8:20am unless accompanied by an adult. We want to ensure the safety of our students as there are no adults outside and
all the building doors are locked until 8:20am. Thank you for keeping all our Phoenix students safe!
