PASTOR’S CORNER Thirtieth Sunday of the Year – We hear Jesus once again tell us the most important thing we are to do is to “love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” Like the scholar of the law, we know that this is what is expected of us. The second commandment, which is like the first, we also know: to love our neighbor as ourselves. In your prayer this coming week, choose one person that you are not loving as much as you know you should, and offer your time in prayer for them. Solemnity of All Saints – This Wed, Nov 1, is the Solemnity of All Saints, a holy day of obligation. The holy day Mass schedule for the Rich Spring Prairie Catholic Community is the following: Oct 31, 7:00 PM Vigil Mass (SSPP) - FM Oct 31, 7:30 PM Vigil Mass (SJ) - FC Nov 1, 8:30 AM Mass (SSPP) - FI Nov 1, 8:45 AM Mass (SB) - FM Nov 1, 7:00 PM Mass (SB) - FC Since the Vigil Mass falls on Halloween, Father Isaiah has graciously agreed to hand out treats at the Rectory in Richmond for trick-or-treaters. Feel free to come to Mass in costume after trick-or-treating. Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed (All Souls’ Day) – Thu, Nov 2, is the commemoration of all the faithful departed. Please come to any of the parishes that day for Mass to remember all of your loved ones who have died. The Mass schedule is the following: 8:00 AM Mass (SB) - FM 9:00 AM Mass (SJ) - FC 7:30 PM Mass (SSPP) - FI Annual Mass of Remembrance where we remember parishioners from each parish who have died between Nov 1, 2016 to Oct 31, 2017, will take place on Sat, Nov 18 at 9:00 AM, at the Church of Saint Boniface. The Saint Boniface Way – The Pastoral Leadership Team has been working with Mike Roth, an implementer of the EOS Process, a way for small businesses to get traction on their company to become the best company possible. At Saint Boniface, our business is the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We do this with three distinct anchors: Hospitality, Evangelization, and Discipleship.

Hospitality. This is one of the signs that a community is alive. To invite others to worship and journey with us is a sign that we aren’t afraid, that we have a treasure of truth and of peace to share. Jesus is present in our practice of hospitality, both as our host and our guest. We are called to serve one another and to think of ourselves as hosts. When we do this, we see and serve others as Christ. How do we do this? Saint Boniface has many ministries to focus on hospitality: Greeters, Small Groups, Doughnut Sundays, RCIA, Friends in Faith, the Liturgy and Environment Committees, and so much more. Essentially, each one of us is a minister of hospitality when we greet another person as Christ. “For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in.” (Mt 25:35)

Evangelization. Jesus sent the first disciples out two by two to proclaim Christ to all nations by words and actions, inviting them into a relationship with Him. By virtue of our baptism, we also are called to do the same - to go out. In an effort to help you with that each year there are opportunities to accompany other adults and youth on mission trips, to serve meals to the homeless at a Place of Hope, to donating items to the local food shelf or to support the Acts 4 account that serves other parishioners in need. All of these are a chance to live out our calling to serve those less fortunate and to witness to others by our words and actions. Saint Francis said we are called to preach the word always and, when necessary, to use words.

Path to Discipleship. Our intentional way of following Jesus, the Good Shepherd, into a deeper covenantal relationship with God. The word Disciple is mentioned over 260 times in the Gospels and Acts of the Apostles. We are all called, by virtue of our baptism, to embrace our life long journey to follow and learn more about Jesus. Here at Saint Boniface we have a wonderful school for Pre-school - Grade 6. We have a thriving youth ministry program and offer formal faith formation for all grades as they prepare for their new role in Church through the sacrament Confirmation. Everyone is welcome to many prayer opportunities, study groups, pastoral outreach, support groups and more. This year we are highlighting the Small Group Experience, where our big parish becomes a small community growing in discipleship together.

Mass Server Training – We are recruiting youth in Grade 4 or older to be Mass Servers. Please contact Julie L. if you have not received a letter and you are interested.

Thank you for your ministry! Alice Stalboerger and her husband John have stepped down from caring for our parish plants. We thank them for truly caring for the earth and beautifying Saint Boniface.

Plant Tender – We are in need of caring hands to care for the parish plants. Please contact me for more information.

“Jesús le respondió: Amarás al Señor, tu Dios, con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma y con toda tu mente.

Éste es el más grande y el primero de los mandamientos. Y el segundo es semejante a éste: Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo. En estos dos mandamientos se fundan toda la ley y los profetas” (Mateo 22, 37-40).

Join the Small Group experience!

Small Groups are where Our great big church becomes

A great small church

Small Groups discuss God's Word on a topic, and approach it through the issues and challenges of daily life. Small Groups challenge each other to pray, being authentic and committed in a safe and supportive environment journeying together. Members pray for one another, care for one another, and develop friendships as growing disciples. It is in the sharing of our faith journey with others that ultimately changes our relationship with Christ. A Small Group has recently formed and is looking for anyone interested in joining them. Please contact Sherry if you are interested.

Small Groups are places where you will … …pray but they are not a prayer group. …read the Bible but they are not a Bible Study. …go deep but they are not a therapy group. …grow deeper in your faith with others but they are not classes. …change your relationship with Christ.
