THANK YOU
Thank you to all the volunteers that have come out to work concessions at the Jr. High, Sub-Varsity, and Varsity football games. This is the largest source of income for the boosters and we could not do this without all of our volunteers that give countless hours in making this happen. A very special thank you to our Concession Managers: Aaron Clayton, Mike Simmel, Edward Quintana, Tricia Peyrot, Donna Ritchie, Paula Simpson, Casey Simpson and Bobbie Jones. They all work tire-lessly to make the Waxahachie Football Concessions heads above all the rest in quality and service.

SPECIAL PROJECTS It has been a great contest season and with the help of all of the many volunteers each student has been well taken care of. The band enjoyed the cookies and milk after practice during UIL week and the decorations in the band halls really pumped the kids up for the UIL marching con-test. Thank you to all of the many parents that helped with this.
I would like to thank Tina and Chris Autry for the wonderful barbecue and Peggy and David Linguist for the beautiful salad at the Midlothian contest. At the very wet DeSoto contest Robin Louque did an awesome job on the tacos and Babs and Toby Tyler made the great refried beans. Thanks to the Perkins family for donating all of the cupcakes at the UIL marching contest. The kids enjoyed special treat bags from the jun-ior parents which was organized by Donna Richie and Heidi Perkins. Many parents, grand-parents, aunts and uncles have contributed their time and talents that I can't even begin to thank each and everyone of you.
So many parents/grandparents baked goodies for the kids it is always an amazing thing to see. The kids eyes get a little glow when they see the wonderful assortment of goodies. Thank you! You are a wonderful group to work with and the band thanks you for your support! Great Job!
- Kathy Louque, AVP Special Projects
Our Parents are the Best!
The WISD band staff wants to thank each and every parent, supporter, and
fan for their awesome participation this year. Without your help and assistance this program would not continue to grow
in quality and excellence. Our volun-teers really help make it happen.
Thanks for everything!

) Greetings from the Howard Band Hall!
For Beginning Band Parents
Our beginners are making steady progress and are almost finished with their “Band Member” level of the badge line system. This is a motivational program whereby students who successfully pass-off a designated number of lines and/or scales from their methods books are awarded a badge at the end of each level. The first level in this program is simply called “Band Member.”
For Symphonic I and II Parents:
Eighth grade band night on September 28 with the high school was a great success. The kids had a wonderful time. All-Region tryouts will be November 9 & 10 in Duncanville. We all are diligently prepar-ing for these tryouts with weekly sectionals and individual listenings.
Symphonic I & II will perform at the Howard/Finley football game on November 6th at Lumpkins Stadium. We will perform for the second half of the B Team game and the 1st half of the A Team game. Symphonic I & II are already working on their Holiday concert music and the beginning band will soon follow. Our concert is Tuesday, December 18 at 7 PM in the Fine Arts Cen-ter. We hope to see everyone there. Please call if you have any questions.

Greetings from the Finley Band Hall!
For Beginning Band Parents: All the beginner classes are doing very well and are learning a lot! Starting with the second Nine-Week period, the amount of minutes each student must practice will go up to 150 per week. This equals about 20-25 minutes per day. Help your child remember to turn in their signed practice card every Thursday for full credit.
We will be passing out music for our Holiday concert very soon, so be listening for that when your child practices. They will have several pieces to perform with the full beginner band, plus a shorter piece that features just their class of instruments. The concert will be Thurs-day, December 20, at 7:00 p.m. Bring the entire family to support your band member!
For Symphonic and Honors Band Parents: The 8th Grade Band Night on September 28 was a huge success! Both junior high and high school students had a great time, and the band staff is discussing the possibility of doing some kind of joint performance in the spring semester, as well. Coming up quickly is the All-Region audition on No-vember 9 & 10. All Honors Band students and many Symphonic Band students
should be working diligently on their scales and the two etudes (3 etudes for percussion) which they will have to perform. They have weekly pass-off grades on all of this music in their sectionals, so attendance is absolutely integral to their success, as well as a good grade in band. Both bands will perform at the Howard/Finley 8th Grade football game on November 6. We will perform the second half of the B Team game and the first half of the A Team game. Additional information will soon follow. Students should have a flip folder and lyre (purchased at Ellis County Music) with all of the stand tunes by no later than Friday, November 2. Both bands are also working very hard on music for the Holiday Concert, which will be Thurs-day, December 20, at 7:00 p.m. Mark it on your calendar and bring the entire family for an evening of great music! If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at any time.
