INTRODUCTION
The rapid pace of LTE deployments has resulted in stellar growth of data traffic, with video streaming, audio, and social networking services driving consumption. Mobile voice services are declining, as there is an on-going shift from traditional voice services towards over-the-top OTT applications. Voice remains hugely important, but will evolve into a wider offering and include new multimedia features.
VoLTE services are rapidly gaining traction and promise to bring several clear benefits for operators. First, they will deliver an improved end-user service through better voice quality and faster call set-up times. Second, VoLTE deployment offers enhanced spectral efficiency and OPEX reduction through network consolidation.
Additionally, the complementary VoWiFi capabilities can lower CAPEX on VoLTE network rollout and enable operators to use VoWiFi for in-building coverage, improving customers’ overall voice experience. But as operators prepare to launch VoLTE or scale up the service, they must prepare to get VoLTE, VoWiFi and ViLTE right first time. Polystar’s Over Data Intelligent Networking solution - ODIN is a cost effective, flexible platform that enables the rapid launch of VoLTE, VoWiFi and MMTEL services to customers. It helps MNOs to accelerate time to market, decrease TCO, and reduce deployment costs by up to 80%.
Through integration with existing legacy networks, ODIN can operate as an all-in-one platform that enables MNOs to offer VoLTE and VoWiFi services without having to first deploy a complete IMS solution. Alternatively, ODIN can provide these services as a stand-alone IMS Application Server (IMS AS), connected with a previously deployed IMS core.
Unlike other IMS solutions that require core network IMS enhancements, the design objective with ODIN has been to deliver standard-compliant IMS end-user services but with a minimal impact to the MNO’s network. As a result, ODIN:

A SOLUTION THAT SIMPLIFIES VoLTE
ODIN simplifies the implementation and integration of advanced service offers through a unique approach and the adoption of standard interfaces. ODIN eliminates the complexity of the IMS architecture by supporting IMS services in a standardised way, based on a distributed data architecture.
This distributed data model reduces the complexity of the system and the amount of signalling that needs to be processed. ODIN can be integrated into the core network as a standard MAP node, combined S-CSCF and AS, or as a stand-alone IMS AS. This flexibility enables smooth deployment with a clear evolution path should the core be upgraded to support a full IMS.

ODIN DEPLOYMENT AND INTEGRATION
ODIN is a future proof solution. When a full IMS platform is deployed, ODIN simply becomes another IMS Application Server (AS) in the network. It is fully virtualized and runs on commodity hardware, making it NFV-ready. ODIN offers flexible delivery, either hosted in-house or provided over the cloud. The integration of an ODIN system is simple. When compared to a fully-fledged IMS solution, it requires little IT involvement and is considerably less expensive than other options.
There are several deployment options for ODIN: Pre-IMS and Integrated-IMS alternatives.
