“Embracing the Spirit and Power of Women to Advance Change”

Dear Members, Excitement is in the air and preparation is well under way for the 16th biennial conference of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women (NCBW). Members of the Las Vegas Chapter team up to host a conference that will be long remembered. They will be lead by Hannah Brown, chair; Silvia Allen, newly elected president of the chapter; and Dr. Sandra mack, a national board member. In addition to broadening our advocacy knowledge base and skill sets, NCBW members will conduct the business of the organization, elect our new leadership, and adopt resolutions that will help direct the organization’s planning and programming efforts for the next two years. The October conference gathering will be a stellar event and bring together a host of NCBW leaders, members, presenters and supporters, uniting as one for the sole purpose of affirming our mission to further promote its agendas to fully achieve gender and racial equity for women in America. Our conference agenda will be stimulating, offering timely information on a number of relevant topics that are of greatest interest to our members and constituents. NCBW has accomplished much over the past 32 years, but we should be ever mindful that until America delivers on its promise women cannot afford to fall asleep at the wheel. It is my sincere hope that every member of NCBW will make plans to join us for this historic gathering in Las Vegas!

Sincerely,

M. DeLois Strum, President

NATIONAL COALITION OF 100 BLACK WOMEN, INC. “Embracing the Spirit and Power of Women to Advance Change”

2013 Biennial Conference

Tentative ItineraryWednesday, October 9 - Sunday, October 13, 2013

The National Coalition of 100 Black Women (NCBW) is an outgrowth of its founding chapter, the New York

Coalition of 100 Black Women. The latter, founded in 1970, consisted of dedicated African American women in New York City who persistently worked to address the problems that affected their families, their communities, and themselves. The women aggressively began to reach out to other Black women and to mobilize their emerging strength into a visible and influential force. Today, NCBW, founded in 1981, consists of 62 chapters in 26 cities. Its mission is to advocate on behalf of women of color through national and local actions and strategic alliances that promote agendas on leadership development and gender equity in health,

education and economic development. NCBW is an organization of progressive women of African descent whose voice and force for gender equity and sociopolitical advancement drive meaningful change to benefit women of color. The members of the Las Vegas Chapter invite you to a city that needs no introduction because it is well known for its five-star resorts, world-class restaurants and boutiques, and spectacular entertainment and nightlife. Las Vegas has truly earned its spot as one of the world’s premier tourist destinations! So come early and stay late to ensure you have ample time to enjoy all the city has to offer. In addition, tourists love The Fremont Experience, classy night clubs, dancing, golfing, Las Vegas bus tours, etc.
