August 2017 This next time this happens will be October 17, 2153. This happens when the moon, di- rectly between the sun and earth, casts a shadow on our planet. ‘ You must wear protective glasses when viewing this. As looking di- rectly at it will cause damage to your eyes. During this, air temperatures drop from 5 to 20 degrees. Bright starts and planets become visible. The wind will die. And birds will go qui- et. Stay tuned, lots of activity in the sales office will bring new neighbors soon. Renovations to the administrative offices are underway. If you need to meet with anyone from the office staff we will be temporarily locat- ed in house 3212. Pacifica will begin work to update the offices, cre- ating an updated space for our office staff. While the renovations are in process we will continue to office out of house 3212. Our mailing address will remain the same, 3200 Heritage Circle and you can still reach us at the office phone number of 828-693-8510. We look forward to revealing the final product once the work is complete.

Summer Sun Safety Tips for Seniors 1. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!

Aim to drink 6 to 8 glasses of water per day. By the time you are thirsty, your body is already dehydrated.

2. Pick the right outfit with ac-cessories. Wear loose, lightweight, and light-colored long sleeves to help protect your skin from sun while allowing your skin to breathe. Hats can also help protect your face and neck.

3. Turn on your air condition-ing. Air conditioning is im-portant when it is hot and humid outside.

4. Be an early bird or night owl: The sun is strongest between 10 am and 4pm. Limit your outdoor activity to the morning and the even-ing, when the temperature is lover and the sun is less intense.

5. Watch for heat stroke: Signs include confusion, disorientation, dry skin, ex-cessive tiredness, head-ache, lethargy, nausea, and a rapid pulse. If you or someone you know experi-ences these symptoms, seek medical attention im-mediately.

6. Review your medications: Some medications can cause side effects, like in-creased sensitivity to ultra-violet (UV) rays.

7. Wear sunscreen: Sun-screen is a major compo-nent to preventing sun-burns.

Take care and enjoy the warm weather!

The walking path has been repaved. Did you know that walking just 20 minutes a day can provide the following health benefits? -Improved Mood -Increased Energy -Lowered Risk of Heart Dis-ease -Lowered Risk of diabetes -Stronger Memory -Weight Loss What are you waiting for? Let’s get walking!

Due to the lack of participation, we have decided to cancel the worship services offered on Sunday afternoons at 2:30. While we value the conven-ience of offering a worship ser-vice on campus, the audience has not warranted the time of those who volunteer to serve us. We are happy to reevalu-ate this effort in the future and bring this service back should it become of interest.

Who am I? If you guessed the Solar Eclipse, you are correct. Join us in the clubhouse on August, 21st at 1:30 to catch all the excitement.
