Letter For Educational Trip
About Visit •SPCE in committed to fulfil the demand of the industry to provide best
practical exposure for their students, who can lead the forthcoming industrial
challenges.
•The Department of Mechanical Engineering, SPCE, Visnagar has organized
two-days Industrial visit to Adani Enterpise at Mundra on 13th-14th April, 2016
for the students of B.E. Sem-VI with a view to familiarize and educate
students in the field of Edible Oil processing, Power Generation, Heavy
Engineering and Automation in material handling.
•Prof.. R.A.Shah, Prof. R.H.Patel, Prof. H.B.Parikh and Prof. S.K.Patel of Mechanical Engineering Department have
accompanied with this educational visit.
•Total 80 members (76 students and 04 faculties) have visited.
About Visit •Adani Foundation spends Rs. 3.5 crore annually for such educational project.
•As a part of that two (capacity - 40) air conditioned buses from Ahmadabad
and accommodation at Shantivihar Guest House is provided.
•Adani Foundation is continuously organizing two days educational field trip
to Mundra at cost of 300 Rs. Per student with a vision to familiarize & inspire
the young generation to become successful business people, engineers,
managers etc.
About Adani Foundation •Adani Foundation, the conglomerate of the prestigious Adani Group, was
established in May, 1996. It is situated in Ahmadabad. It looks after the
Corporate Social Responsibility related activities of the Group, which has now
become synonymous with creating wealth and providing better living for the
people. It began in a small way by working with a few rural communities
around its Port at Mundra.
•The Adani Foundation is the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of Adani
Group, an integrated infrastructure conglomerate that is committed to inclusive

Mundra Port & Special Economic Zone
•Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) - a part of India’s leading
infrastructure conglomerate the Adani Group - is India’s largest multi-port
operator.
•APSEZ is the only private sector port operator with presence across six ports
in India. The company’s aim is to increase annual cargo handling capacity
from 112.8 million MT in 2014 to 200 million MT by 2020.
•APSEZ’s Mundra Port is Adani Group’s crown jewel and the largest port in
India.
•Adani has also obtained approvals from Government of India for setting up
another multi-product SEZ and Free Trade Warehousing Zones in Mundra.
•It also operates Asia’s largest coal import terminal of 60 MMTPA

Adani Wilmar Ltd. •Adani Wilmar Limited (AWL), a Rs. 14,000 crore company; is a joint venture between
two global corporations: The Adani Group of India - the leaders in international trading
& private infrastructure, and The Wilmar International Limited of Singapore - agri-
business group and leading merchandiser and processor of edible oils.
•Together, the Adani Group and Wilmar Grouphave set up India's first port based
refinery at Mundra, Gujarat. Today the Mundra refinery is one of India's largest and
most sophisticated oil refineries. AWL is the proud owner of brands Fortune , King’s ,
Raag , Bullet , Fryola , Jubilee,Alpha,Alife , Aadhaar. Also it is involved in the
manufacture and sale of Speciality Fats like Bakery Shortening & Lauric Fat.
•The company has production infrastructure across the country with a crushing capacity
of over 6200 TPD (Tonnes per Day), Packing Capacity of 6200 TPD and Refining
capacity of over 9100 TPD. AWL is one of the very few national players in the Industry
to have this massive production infrastructure, with all its plants so strategically located
to take advantage of the Import Parity and Domestic crop season.
Western Port at Mundra
Western Port at Mundra
•There are total 4 berths on the western port. Out of these 4 berths, 3 berths are fully
mechanized. All of them are used as multipurpose berths. Due to increase in imports
and exports they are constructing 13 more berths by reclaiming the land.
Ships and jetty:
•VLCC (very large container capacity) and ULCC (ultra large container capacity) are
not suited for this port as well that’s why goods are imported and exported using
panamax and capsize ships.
•Channel length in the Western port is about 4 nautical miles.
•The depth of draft at eastern port is about 20 m. Ships which require more depth is not
suited. The western port is handling 4 capsize vehicles of 165,000 metric tons and is
aiming to handle such 20 vessels by the year 2020.
•The grabber used at the western port is of 55 tons. It can unload 150 thousand metric
tons in 24 hours. While eastern port requires 2-3 days to do the same.

Adani Power Ltd. •The Mundra Thermal Power Project was conceived to provide
power for the captive consumption of APSEZ in Mundra.
•Thereafter the vision and the capabilities of the promoters has
made Mundra Power project the largest single location Coal
based Thermal Power Station in India and one of the top five in
the World.
•All the nine units of Mundra power plant have been
commissioned one after the another in shortest possible time of
33 months.
•Adani Power Mundra, Gujarat based Plant 4620 MW (5 X
660MW + 4 X 330 MW) Largest single location private coal
based power plant in the world.
Adani Power Ltd. •Adani Power created history by synchronising the first supercritical
technology based 660MW generating unit at Mundra.
•This is not only the first super-critical generating unit in the country but also
the fastest project implementation ever by any power developer in the country
with synchronisation within 36 months from the inception,.
•The Phase III of the Mundra Project, which is based on supercritical
technology, has received ‘Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Project’
certification from United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change
(UNFCCC).
•This is the world’s first thermal project based on supercritical technology to
get registered as CDM Project under UNFCCC.

Mechanical engineering.
To provide platform for students to know the way industry works and to
motivate them to work in good industry for better future.
To know about various Heavy transportation devices and learn different
mechanisms.
Students are familiar about power generation of thermal power plant and
various Controlling systems.
