The immersive video Colours X Colours is the fruit of a two-year collaboration between the artists Thomas Blanchard and Oilhack. For twenty-four minutes, the two artists from Lyon will offer visitors an opportunity to immerse them-selves in the most incredible macro videos of paintings and discover the various natural reactions of the materials. The images, projected onto all the walls in LE STUDIO, capture the movements that occur within artistic creations, painted in acrylic paint, oil paint, or soap, and provide an opportunity, thanks to a high optical magnification, to view painting and its techniques from a new perspective. Composed of six parts, the video invites each visitor to enjoy a real visual experience, in which each form, colour, and the materials give viewers a feeling of tranquillity and satisfaction. The first part of the video focuses on the density of inks—liquids shown in close up—, followed by motifs of roots and flowers. The experience then continues with a focus on glycerophthalic paint and balls of paint, which eventually explode into an abundance of colours, nuances, and movements.

Thomas Blanchard, a French video artist, likes to explore various themes and combine arts. His work has been presented in various festivals and exhibitions throughout the world, such as the 2016 Biennale of Contemporary Art in Casablan¬ca, the Starz Denver Film Festival, the Spring Studio in New York, and the Ar-techouse Gallery in Washington DC. Thanks to his work with forms, pigments, and textures, he creates powerful and immersive visual images. Over recent years, the stunning rendering of colour in his films has at-tracted the interest of the biggest companies in the technology and communications sector. He has, in parti-cular, worked for Apple (the launch of the iPhone X) and also with Sony (Sony Square in Tokyo).

Oilhack is a self-taught artist. Inspired by nature since his childhood, his works are an alchemy of colours and textures, a blend of energies that come to life on his support. His work is the result of com¬binations of his artistic practices, which are captured at a specific moment, and then enhanced through photography. His work has also been presented in the Spring Studio in New York, the Artechouse Gallery in Washington DC, and also at the Festival del Silenzio in Milan. He has also worked on the iPhone X and Sony Square projects with Thomas Blanchard. As of 7 September, the two artists will present their experimental work, which will provide visitors with an intense audio and visual experience, and will be projected continuously in LE STUDIO in the Atelier des Lumières.
