any Branch of the State Bank of India by filling up the prescribed Bank Challan available

in the website: www.dibru.ac.in. Application Forms shall be issued after submission of the

University Copy of the Fee deposited Bank Challan in original at any of the above

University shall not receive the Application Fees in any other form. 3. The intending candidates are suggested to visit the website: www.dibru.ac.in for detailed

Admission Notice, downloadable Application Form and all other relevant information.

4. The filled-in downloaded Application Form shall have to be accompanied by the University

Copy of the Fee deposited Bank Challan in original at the time of submission.

5. Reservation of seats & relaxation of eligibility norms shall be as per statutory provisions.

6. The candidates seeking admission under the Reserved Categories (EXCEPT Statutory

Reservations) shall have to submit a separate application form. For details, please see the

7. *The detailed and specific information for these Academic Programmes are available in

How to apply: 1. Fill up all information required by the University sought in the prescribed Application Form.

2. Attach all self-attested requisite testimonials with the duly filled in Application Form.

3. Submit the filled in Application Form with all requisite testimonials at the Office of the Head of

the Department/ Centre of Studies of the Teaching Department/ Centre of Studies concerned

where admission is sought.

4. The last date for submission of the Application Forms along with all the relevant

documents is July 22, 2014. However, in case of the programmes at Sl. Nos. 7, 10, 12 and

15, the last date for submission of application form is different. The candidates are

advised to refer the detailed advertisement and annexure available at the D.U. website.

N.B.: 1. The Post Graduate Diploma, Diploma and Certificate Programmes shall be conducted by the

University provided the minimum number of the eligible candidates is 10 (ten) in the

Programme concerned.

2. Due to certain recent statutory modifications, there may be slight differences in the eligibility

norms and other conditions stated in this notification and those mentioned in the Information

Brochure. In such cases, the candidates are suggested to follow the information mentioned in

the relevant Annexure of this notification.

3. Statutory Reservation Policy shall be followed as per the Government Rules.

DEPARTMENT OF PETROLEUM TECHNOLOGY

The Department of Petroleum Technology was established in 1969 by Dibrugarh University with the support by the Govt. of Assam and University Grants Commission, Govt. of India to impart quality education in the field of Petroleum Technology.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates having B.E./B.Tech. Degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering and M.Sc. in Geology or Applied Geology of any recognized University with minimum 55% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply. M.Sc. in Geology or Applied Geology candidates should have Mathematics as one of the optional subjects at the B.Sc. level.

Intake: 20 seats (including a few seats under endowment category).

Method of Selection for admission:

Selection of candidates for admission will be made on the basis of merit in the Qualifying Examination and through an Interview.

Note:

The list of the selected candidates to be called for admission will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination (B.E/B.Tech./M.Sc.) and the interview (40% weightage will be given on the interview and 60% on merit) which will be notified in the Notice Board of the Department. ADMISSION NOTICE FOR

M.TECH. IN EXPLORATION GEOPHYSICS FOR THE SESSION 2014-15 Total number of seats: 15 Course Fee: Rs. 30,000/- per semester Approximate net expenditure for the programme: Rs. 1, 50,000 (for four semesters) Session starts from: 1st August, 2014. Objectives: The basic objective behind offering Exploration Geophysics as an M.Tech Programme is three fold. First, to generate quality human resources in the ‘high skill’ segment of workers belonging to Exploration Geophysics and increasing thereby the practical importance of higher education in nation building. Secondly, introduction of more down-to-earth steps so that the academia-industry symbiosis becomes more meaningful as well as useful. Thirdly, to encourage young minds to pursue research works on the geophysical problems of different sedimentary basins and in particular the Assam Arakan Basin.

What can you expect from this programme?

1. Upgraded, industry oriented syllabus. 2. Faculties having industrial as well as long years of academic background. 3. Earth system science approach. 4. Continuous interactions with the resource persons from the premiere oil industries like the OIL

Programme Structure: In conformity with the stated objectives, the first semester of the programme will be devoted to introduce the philosophy of scientific exploration in general and exploration geophysics in particular. Additionally, Earth System Science approach with a solid foundation of Structural Geology and Sedimentology will be there. The second semester will be devoted to Seismology and Seismic methods of data acquisition and processing. The third semester will be devoted principally on interpretational aspects and subjects from different departments like Numerical Analysis and Computer programming. Besides the regular field work, serious project works of six months’ duration having strictly monitored periodic submission of progress reports related to exploration under the joint supervision of the Department of Applied geology, Dibrugarh University and reputed industrial organizations will be conducted.

Job prospect:

We don’t guarantee jobs but the track record of the department shows that the employability of the students passing out of this department in premiere industries like OIL, ONGC, GSI, Shell, Schlumberger, Halliburton, Reliance, NHPC and many other reputed concerns is quite good. Moreover, OIL and ONGC have started conducting campus selection on regular basis in the recent years.

Eligibility:

Candidates having M.Sc./M.Sc. Tech. degree in Applied Geology/ Geology/ Physics/ Mathematics, B.Tech. (Petroleum Engineering) and any other equivalent degree from any UGC recognized University securing at least 55% marks in aggregate (or, CGPA 7.0 in the scale of 10.0 points) and having Mathematics as a core subject in the degree level. Candidates who have cleared GATE/NET will get preference. Based on the performance of the eligible candidates in the interview Board, a merit list of the selected candidates will be published and candidates after payment of the prescribed fee shall be admitted for the programme.

CENTRE FOR STUDIES IN BIOTECHNOLOGY

The Centre for Studies in Biotechnology was established in 2005 by Dibrugarh University in collaboration with Regional Medical Research Centre (ICMR), and is supported by the Govt. of Assam and Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India to impart quality education in the field of Biotechnology.

Eligibility Criteria:

A. Candidates having Bachelor degree of any recognized University/Institution in Biological Sciences/Agricultural Sciences/Veterinary Sciences/Pharmaceutical Sciences/Medical Sciences with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and having chemistry as one of the optional subject/ or chemistry paper (s) with equivalent weightage at the undergraduate level are eligible to apply for the course.

B. Candidates appearing/due to appear in the final year of their respective qualifying examinations in May/June 2014 are also eligible to apply but their eligibility for admission shall be considered only when they obtain the minimum qualifying marks and produce original mark sheet of the final year at the time of admission.

Intake capacity: 25 seats (including a few seats under endowment category).

Course Fee structure:

Method of Selection for admission: Selection of candidates for admission will be made through an entrance test followed by an interview. The question paper shall be of 100 marks, two-hours duration and will consist of objective type questions in the fields of Physics, Chemistry and Biology. There shall be no negative marking. The pattern of questions in Physics will be of +2 levels while that of Chemistry and Biology will be of the undergraduate level.

Test Centers:

Two Centers for the Entrance Test have been fixed.

1. Centre for Studies in Biotechnology, Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh-786004. 2. North Eastern Regional Institute of Management (NERIM), Parukutty Bhawan, Nabin Nagar, Guwahati-

781024. However, if sufficient numbers of candidates are not available for the test Centre No. 2, the same may be withdrawn.

Note:

CENTRE FOR BIOINFORMATICS STUDIES

DIBRUGARH UNIVERSITY

DIBRUGARH – 786004, Assam

Centre for Bioinformatics Studies, Dibrugarh University in collaboration with RMRC-ICMR, Dibrugarh, conducting Masters of Science (M.Sc.) course in Bioinformatics since 2007. In 2009 the Centre also collaborated with the North East Institute of Science & Technology (NEIST), Jorhat, for qualitative development of human resource for valuable and qualitative education in Bioinformatics. This course is of 2 years duration. The demand and importance of the subject led Centre for Bioinformatics Studies, Dibrugarh University to collaborate with Regional Medical Research Centre-Indian Council for Medical Research (RMRC-ICMR), Dibrugarh and North Eastern Institute of Science and Technology (NEIST), Jorhat to generate efficient professionals in this emerging field. The course is first of its kind in entire North Eastern Region for facilitating qualitative generation of human resources in the field of Bioinformatics.

Eligibility Criteria:

Eligibility Criteria: Graduates from any recognized University or institute in Biological, Veterinary, Agricultural, Medical, Pharmaceutical sciences, Biotechnology and Engineering. The Science graduate must have at least two of the subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.(Minimum 45% Marks in Major Programme or Minimum 45% Marks in aggregate and 50% Marks in aggregate in case of the graduates completed the general Programme)

For M.A. in Performing Arts (Sattriya Dance):

i) The candidates passed the Bachelor Programme in Performing Arts/Sattriya Dance/ Indian Classical Dance form from Dibrugarh University or any University recognized by Dibrugarh University shall be eligible to apply for admission to the programme.

The Centre for Studies in Journalism and Mass Communication, established in 2008, offers full time M.A. in Mass Communication (four semesters) Programme in modular mode, where students may avail the benefit of getting the PG Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication after successful completion of the first two semesters. The provision has also been kept to provide ‘lateral entry’ to the third semester for the PGDJMC diploma holders either in the regular or distance mode from Dibrugarh University or any other recognized institute or university with a minimum 45% of marks in the PG diploma course (5% relaxable for SC/ST candidates).
