On May 7th, funds from the Missouri Athletes & Entertainers (A&E) tax were distributed to libraries across the state.

So what exactly is A&E?

The Non-Resident Professional Athletes and Entertainers Tax (A&E Tax) is a tax on the earnings of professional athletes and entertainers when playing or performing in the State of Missouri. It is collect-ed by the State of Missouri and, by Statute, is to be distributed among the following five groups: Missouri State Library Networking Fund (10%), Missouri Humanities Council Trust Fund (10%); Missouri Public Television Broadcasting Corporation Special Fund (10%); Missouri Historic Preservation Revolving Fund (10%) and the Missouri Arts Council Trust Fund (60%).

What can this money be used for?

A&E funds may be expended for approved library materials, such as books, audio materials, e-books and, if the content is owned by the library, e-audio. Ineligible materials include elec-tronic databases and other subscription content.

The burning question is what are we going to use it on, right?

The Way We Worked Exhibit

We are pleased and honored to be able to present an important part of Butler

County History to the public in September 2013.

The Way We Worked Exhibit will be on exhibit here during the month of Septem-

ber. This exhibit tells the story of how work became a central element in Ameri-

can culture.

The exhibition explores the tools and technologies that enabled and assisted work-

ers, the diversity of the American work force and how individuals and communi-

ties identify themselves with work.

It is the hope that residents of the community will enjoy the exhibition and have

a better understanding of the journey of the American worker, and a deeper ap-

preciation of how it echo's in today’s society. Please come explore the past with us!
