LOVE CHILDJesus: “I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father.”

God. Is. Love.

Am I a child of my heavenly Father?

The Lord Jesus loves our brothers and sisters who are ill. With trust let us pray to him that he will comfort them with His grace. -Rite of Anointing of the Sick

Prayers of the Faithful

Dear Parish Family,

On the weekend of February 15-16th, a video was shown depicting the Archdiocesan Capital Campaign: Ignite: Our Faith, Our Mission. This capital campaign is being conducted at all parishes in our local archdiocese. We at St. Michael the Archangel are in the third and final rollout, Block III.

This capital campaign will address specifically, the following future needs of our archdiocese: First, St. Mary’s Seminary. Second, Future Disaster Recovery Fund for

catastrophic events (i.e.: flooding, natural disasters.) Third, Our Parishes and Schools in Light of Hurricane Harvey—assisting in rebuilding what was damaged or destroyed during Hurricane

Harvey. Fourth, Catholic School Education Endowment Fund—with an eye to the direct support of Inner-City Catholic Schools. Fifth, Faith Formation Endowment Fund. This fund ensures support

available to all who come to us wishing to enrich their Catholic faith through formal education programs and opportunities. And sixth, Individual Parish Needs. This will address future needs of

individual parishes. As stated, 1/3 of the monies collected will come back to our parish. As well, any monies pledged

and collected that go over our designated goal of $2.7 million, 67% of these monies above and beyond our goal go directly back to St. Michael. This capital campaign will run for four years.

It is my hope that when we exceed our goal in both pledges and payments, we can retire our debt of $1.2 million. Upon my arrival as pastor in 2016, our parish was in debt $6.3 million. We have done

much to reduce our debt. Nevertheless, it is my desire to recognize a 0-debt balance.

Next weekend, an invitation card will be distributed at all Masses following the homily. This invitation will outline the opportunities that you have to attend any one of four receptions to be held

here at St. Michael the Archangel. I humbly ask that you plan to attend one of these receptions. Finally, I thank you for taking the time to reflect, discern, pray and soon make a pledge to the Ignite Capital Campaign. Although not all gifts will be equal in size, if all of us give generously to the local

church, all of us are indeed blessed by its ministries and collaboration. On behalf of Daniel Cardinal DiNardo, myself and the clergy at St. Michael the Archangel, thank you and may God bless you and

your kindness.

I Remain,

Sincerely yours in Christ,Fr. Wayne Wilkerson, Pastor

Vacation Bible School 2020Make VBS at St. Michael the Archangel your child’s go-to event this summer. It's just the ticket! Climb aboard for mountains of fun on the Rocky Railway! Children will discover that trusting Jesus pulls them through life’s upsand downs on their faith-filled adventure. This year’s dates are June 1 – June 5.

Current Shine Middle School Series: Can I Ask That? (For Grades 6-8)Teenagers are tired of vague, superficial, or nonexistent answers to their tough questions about God. Who is God? Can we even know if God is real? What proof is there that God exists? What does this mean for my life? The question of the existence of God is one that can change the entire course of a person’s life. This series, “Can I Ask That?” will address questions about God and some of the biggest stumbling blocks in believing that God exists. In laying out foundational truths about God, the goal of this series is for middle school youth to see that it is reasonable to believe that God exists and that, through faith, they can know God and be in a relationship with Him. Shine is our weekly ministry for middle schoolers grades 6-8 on Sunday nights from 6-7:30pm, after the 5pm Mass. All teens and their families are welcome and encouraged to attend the 5pm Mass! Join us every week for food, faith, and fun as we journey in community as disciples on mission in the good life God has planned for us. It doesn’t matter if you go to a Catholic School or Non-Catholic School, if you are in 6th, 7th or 8th grade Shine is for YOU.

Current Awaken High School Series: Doubt It (Grades 9-12)Miracles are fascinating. Scripture is overflowing with accounts of God controlling nature, healing the sick, and raising people from the dead. The Church consistently investigates and approves miracles attributed to the intercession of saints. Miracles can and should strengthen our faith in God, but so often they are easy to doubt. "Doubt It" is an Awaken series that will challenge high school teens to have expectant faith in God, who performs miracles as a way of revealing His power and goodness. Awaken is our program on Sunday nights for high school students in grades 9-12 beginning with the 5pm Sunday evening Mass, and continuing after Mass until 7:30 pm. At Awaken, high school students join a small group where they can go deeper with one another and their adult mentors, and form life-long friendships through the good, tough, and just busy times of high school.
