IMPORTANT: PLAN OF APPROACH TO A HARD BREXIT Dear customer, The possible upcoming departure of the United Kingdom (UK) from the European Union (EU) causes a great deal of uncertainty. This forces us to take into account a ‘hard Brexit’ in the short term (as of 31 October 2019). Jan Krediet has been in close consultation with its partners and relevant authorities for quite some time, so that we are prepared for all possible changes and that we can offer you the right solutions and service at all times. In the case of a "hard Brexit" we can take care of the vast majority of the logistics process for you, but for a small but very relevant part, we depend on your cooperation. Therefore please pay attention to the following. THE ACTIONS YOU SHOULD TAKE IN THE CASE OF A HARD BREXIT From the moment that there is an official Brexit, the UK is immediately a non-EU country. This means an end to the free movement of goods and, in any case, the intervention of customs. This ensures numerous extra actions, such as customs clearance and the provision of the correct administrative data. For you this means the following: 1. We will have to receive an original commercial invoice from you (the invoice from you to your customer) stating the following (in English): a recognizable description of the products; the invoice value and the numbers per product; the gross and net weights per product; your VAT number and EORI number (for more information about the EORI number see: https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/business/customs- procedures/general-overview/economic-operators-registration- identification-number-eori_en ) the delivery condition / incoterm (see point 2); and last but not least, the TSP number of your customer (see point 3).

IMPORTANT: PLAN OF APPROACH TO A HARD BREXIT

Dear customer,

The possible upcoming departure of the United Kingdom (UK) from the European Union (EU) causes a great deal of uncertainty.

THE ACTIONS YOU SHOULD TAKE IN THE CASE OF A HARD BREXIT

From the moment that there is an official Brexit, the UK is immediately a non-EU country. This means an end to the free movement of goods and, in any case, the intervention of customs. This ensures numerous extra actions, such as customs clearance and the provision of the correct administrative data. For you this means the following:

1. We will have to receive an original commercial invoice from you (the invoice from you to your customer) stating the following (in English):

a recognizable description of the products; the invoice value and the numbers per product; the gross and net weights per product; your VAT number and EORI number (for more information about the EORI number see:

https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/business/customs-procedures/general-overview/economic-operators-registration-identification-number-eori_en)

the delivery condition / incoterm (see point 2); and last but not least, the TSP number of your customer (see point 3).

2. Make sure you use the correct delivery condition / incoterm. Our advice is to maintain the DAP (Delivered At Place) condition, so that your customer is the formal importer of the goods and takes care of the payment of import duties. For more information see: https://www.incotermsexplained.com/the-incoterms-rules/incoterms-2010-rules/

3. It is very important that your customer requests a Transitional Simplified Procedure (TSP) from customs in the UK. The purpose of the TSP certification is to speed up and simplify the border crossing and thus the import for registered companies. If your customer has the TSP status, we can deliver the goods and the payment of customs duties will be postponed to a later date. In the undesirable event that TSP status cannot be obtained, any customs duties will have to be paid in advance. The shipment will then physically remain in our warehouse in the Netherlands. Only when the customs office has been in contact with your customer and the customs duties have been paid we can release your shipment for delivery. TSP certification can be requested through the following link:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/importing-standard-goods-using-transitional-simplified-procedures . The friendly but urgent request to share this link with your customers.

4. It is imperative that we receive all telephone numbers, e-mail addresses and contact details from your customer so that our UK customs agent can contact your customer regarding the customs procedure.

THE DOCUMENTATION IS COMPLETE, WHAT HAPPENS NOW?

When the export documents are complete and ready, we deliver them digitally to Portbase's Port Community System (PCS). Portbase is the counter in the Netherlands that connects all parties in the logistics chain of the Dutch ports. The PCS facilitates data sharing between companies and governments in order to work as quickly and efficiently as possible. As soon as the PCS has processed our export documents, we receive official permission to drive our truck and the goods declared to the port and to board one of the ferries.

In the event that the documents that we receive from you prove to be incomplete or incorrect, we are forced to temporarily store your goods in our warehouse until the documentation is supplied correctly. One shipment with incorrect documentation in our truck means that customs will block the entire truck and possibly for several days. We want to prevent this at all times.

WHAT IS THE FINANCIAL IMPACT OF ALL THESE EXTRA ACTS?

For the time being it is not clear what additional customs costs there are, this also applies to the costs of drawing up the required export documents. It is realistic to assume that there will be extra waiting costs, because it is possible that our trucks will be delayed.

TAKING ACCOUNT OF DELAY IN DELIVERY TIMES?

We recommend that you take delays into account when planning your logistics. At the moment that an export declaration is submitted, the customs may decide to carry out a physical inspection. In addition, delays may occur in the ferry ports, at the channel tunnel or in the UK.

WHAT CAN YOU DO FURTHER?

You should prepare that the changes described above can take effect from next week. So stay up to date with the latest Brexit developments through news reports, but also through industry associations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and / or Customs.

Of course our Brexit help desk is available if you have questions or comments. They can be reached via telephone number +31 (0)521-539 523 or e-mail to [email protected].

Sincerely,

Niek NijdamOperations Manager Jan Krediet
