CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: O mortal, can these bones live?
Congregation: Only the Lord God knows.
Leader: O people, hope in the Lord.
Congregation: With the Lord there is steadfast love and great power to redeem.
MORNING PRAYER
Lord God, Great I AM, you are resurrection and life. As we worship you this day show us who
we are: bearers of good news, messengers of resurrection; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen. *HYMN 78 Alas! And Did My Savior Bleed CALL TO CONFESSION
To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. Trusting in the
Spirit of God, let us confess our sin. PRAYER OF CONFESSION
O Lord, if you held our sin against us, who could live, who could stand? We seem to have more
faith in death than hope in your promise of life. We seek peace through war and find security
in weapons. We abandon the hungry, sick, and dying, and pursue wealth by making others
poor. And even so, you love us; still there is forgiveness with you! Therefore we worship you;
for you alone, O Lord, can save us from death and redeem us from our sin. Amen. CHORAL RESPONSE When Friend Was Lost David Schwoebel DECLARATION OF FORGIVENESS
O dry bones, hear the word of the LORD! If Jesus Christ dwells in you, the Spirit of God will be your
life and the grace of God will be your righteousness. And if the Holy Spirit dwells in you, then God,
who raised Jesus from the dead, will also give life to your mortal bodies. Friends, this is the good
news of the gospel: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Thanks be to God. *GLORIA PATRI HYMN NO. 579
Glory be to the Creator, and to the Christ and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now and always shall be, world without end!
Amen, amen.
*Please stand as you are able
THE PEACE
Leader: Let us now share the peace which Jesus made possible.........Peace be with you.
Congregation: And also with you.
Leader: Please greet those near to you with the peace of Christ.

THE LORD’S PRAYER
RESPONDING TO GOD’S WORD *AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Theological Declaration of Barmen
8:19 “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise
authority over them. It shall not be so among you; but whoever would be great among you
must be your servant.” (Matt. 20:25-26)
8:20 The various offices in the church do not establish a domination of some over others; on the
contrary, they are for the exercise of the ministry entrusted to and enjoined upon the
whole congregation.
8:21 We reject the false doctrine, as though the church, apart from this ministry, could and
were permitted to give to itself, or allow to be given to it, special leaders vested with ruling
powers. INVITATION TO THE OFFERING
Without the breath of God, we are dry bones, and without the Word of God, we are dust. With
gratitude, let us offer our lives to the Lord of all life.

Questions for Reflection: Why did Jesus weep in John 11:35? Was it out of compassion for Mary and Martha? Out of
love for his friend Lazarus? Out of frustration with the people’s lack of understanding or
faith? Think about someone in your life who is grieving. Find a way to extend to that person
the grace and peace of Christ.
Morning Prayer: O God, I know that you are the Lord, for you gave me my life, and caused me to rise this day.
Put your Spirit within me, and let my words and actions help others to know that you are my
Lord and my God. Amen. Evening Prayer: My soul waits for you, O Lord, Ps. 130:6 more than those who watch for morning, more than
those who watch for morning. Help me sleep this night in peace, trusting that you will
awaken me; through Jesus Christ my Savior. Amen.

GREAT THANKSGIVING
Leader: The Lord be with you Congregation: And also with you Leader: Lift up your hearts. Congregation: We lift them to the Lord. Leader: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. Congregation: It is right to give our thanks and praise. Leader: It is truly right and our greatest joy... ... Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with angels and with all the faithful of every time and place, who forever sing to the glory of your name:
You are holy, O God of majesty... ... Great is the mystery of faith: According to Christ’s commandment: We remember his death, we proclaim his resurrection, we await his coming in glory... ...Through Christ, with Christ, in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor are yours, almighty God, now and forever. Amen. LORD’S PRAYER Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom
come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. Leader: The gifts of God for the people of God. Congregation: Thanks be to God.
