Delaware House Bill 334 Bill provides for the transition of the statewide student

assessment system Delaware Comprehensive Assessment System (DCAS) Smarter Balanced Assessment System (SBAC) for

ELA/Literacy and mathematics Bill removes references to multiple assessments

Delaware Senate Bill 229 Adds an additional alternate assessment to the DeSSA program Calls for a portfolio assessment Target population is students with extensive communication

needs

District Superintendent/District Test Coordinator notified of monitoring year and sites through letter to Superintendent

State team conducts a site visit to the district or school site

District receives letter from DDOE informing them of the monitoring results

If district/site provides complete and valid evidence of successful assessment monitoring and compliance, has met all requirements, it will receive designation of compliance and returns back to cycle. If district/site does not provide complete and valid evidence of successful assessment monitoring and compliance, or if any monitored area is found deficient, the district and school will be designated as “noncompliant” and some form of monitoring will continue.
