Welcome!

On behalf of the International Skating Union, it is a great pleasure for me to extend a warm welcome to all of you at the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating - Gran Premio d’Italia 2021 in Turin, Italy.

With this event we have the opportunity to see performing on the ice the best Figure Skaters in the World and I am sure it will be a spectacle full of exciting performances. I wish everybody, those who will attend the Event at the venue as well as to all the fans from all over the world who will follow the competitions from the television and from other media channels, a very joyful and memorable experience.

The ISU would like to thank the Federazione Italiana Sport del Ghiaccio. Compliments go to the Organizing

Committee, the officials and the many volunteers who have worked hard to make this event a success, even in difficult times like nowadays.

I also would like to extend my gratitude to the media and the sponsors for their interest and support to the promotion and development of Figure Skating in Italy and abroad.

IL BENVENUTO DAL PRESIDENTE DELLA FEDERAZIONE ITALIANA SPORT DEL GHIACCIO

Dopo l'ISU Grand Prix Finals of Figure Skating e questi due anni molto difficili, Torino è di nuovo pronta ad accogliere l'elite del pattinaggio di figura: un bellissimo modo per far ripartire la città.

Dai Giochi Olimpici Invernali del 2006 il connubio si è fatto pressoché indissolubile e proprio su questa linea ininterrotta il Palavela, prestigioso polo sportivo inaugurato per l’appunto in occasione della rassegna a cinque cerchi, tornerà ad ospitare una tappa di Coppa del Mondo di pattinaggio.

Per un fine settimana Torino ospiterà i migliori pattinatori del mondo nelle quattro categorie in gara: Men, Ladies, Pairs e Dance.

All’agonismo delle gare si accompagnerà poi la magia del Galà finale con le stelle internazionali libere di esprimere sul ghiaccio tutto il loro talento e la loro fantasia libere dalla pressione della competizione.

Uno show imperdibile per tutti coloro che affolleranno le tribune del Palavela. Torino e l’Italia sono pronti a celebrare questo straordinario evento con l’augurio che sia per tutti una festa: buon divertimento!

After the ISU Grand Prix Finals and these two diffcult year, Torino welcomes back the elite of figure skating: a great restart for the city.

Since the Winter Olympic Games of 2006 this bond has become unbreakable and the Palavela, the prestigious sports center that was inaugurated for the Olympics, will once again host a ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating® round.

For a weekend Torino will welcome the athletes in all four disciplines: Men, Ladies, Pairs and Dance. The adrenaline and emotions of the performances will surely charm the Italian audience.

And that is not all: after the competition, the magic of the Gala will follow. Here the athletes will be free to express all their talent and creativity on the ice without the pressure of competition. A real treat for everyone sitting in the audience at the Palavela.

Torino and Italy are ready to celebrate this wonderful event and wish for it to be a celebration for everyone.

The magic of Turin warms the heart, especially in the Christmas period.

The Mole Antonelliana stands out with its star, which they say channels positive energy. A star for the stars, like those exhibited in the National Cinema Museum inside the Mole, and like all the lights that illuminate the city of the Savoys to perfection. True works of art that radiate a visual and conceptual lustre over the Artistic Lights event in November and December..

The transition from light to darkness generates true excitement, as happens in the OGR (Officine Grandi Riparazioni, Grand Repair Workshops) with their restaurants and spaces where visual and performance arts meet.You will find the same experience in the Borgo Medievale of Turin, where the magical Nativity scene of Emanuele Luzzati is spread through its narrow streets. For unusual and artisan gifts, Piazza Castello, Piazza Solferino, Piazza Santa Rita and the Cortile del Maglio host chalets and Christmas markets.

But all of Turin shines in this period: from the Museum of Contemporary Art in the Rivoli Castle to the exquisite Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation; and from the Agnelli Art Gallery to the photos of Camera, the museum of photography.

Carignano and the new race track among the clouds on the Curva Parabolica at the Lingotto.The best advice is to stroll gazing high up, admirthe noble palaces of the area between Via Della Rocca and Piazza Maria Teresa, on the Lungo Po and from Corso Vittorio to Piazza Vittorio with the splendid Church of the Gran Madre, opposite which is the statue of Vittorio Emanuele I, who – as legend has it – is pointing towards the place where the Holy Grail is hidden.

Looking straight ahead, you can sense the presence of a darker magic too, tempting you with its elegant boutiques, art galleries and aristocratic caffès where you can sip a Bicerin, a typical hot drink of Turin, served in great style in the Café Confetteria al Bicerin or in the enchanting Stratta pastry shop, in large round glasses and being a mix of coffee, chocolate and sweet or soft creams.

Be seduced too by the gianduiotti of Caffè Baratti, by the zabaglione of Caffè Fiorio, by the Chocolatier maestros Guido Gobino and Guido Castagna, by Andrea Perino who bakes fragrant breads, cakes and focaccia using age-old grains and secret recipes, or by an aperitif or a Jessica (seven layers of pure pleasure with chocolate and tiramisu) inside the historic Farmacia Del Cambio in one of the most magical squares of Italy, where you can also see the splendid Carignano theatre.

To get dressed for the holidays you can stop in Piazza Vittorio, full of sophisticated boutiques (in the area you can also visit the houses of Carol Rama and Carlo Mollino). Nearby is the oldest jewellery store in Italy, Musy, opened in 1707, long-time supplier of the House of Savoy, known for the "Great Tiara", requested in 1883 by King Umberto I as a Christmas gift for his wife, Queen Margherita.

There are also several restaurants in Turin which could be termed starry, in reality or because of a well-deserved reputation, including the noble Del Cambio, which since 1757 has attracted into its famous rooms celebrities such as Casanova, Puccini, Balzac, Nietzsche, Verdi, Marinetti, D’Annunzio, Eleonora Duse, Maria Callas and Audrey Hepburn.

Experience a luxurious exploration and an explosion of aromas and flavours at the Olfattorio, the Perfume Bar, where you can taste wonderful things like champagne in goblets, or at the Credenza di Fior Fior, where the “best local ingredients are interpreted in an extraordinary way”.

Neoclassical cuisine, typical of Piedmont and in the Roman Quadrilateral, can be enjoyed in Le Tre Galline, one of the finest restaurants in the city, where traditional veal with a tuna sauce, agnolotti al sugo d’arrosto and bunet are offered in a true explosion of taste.

Finally, for a quick lunch, nothing is better than the art nouveau bomboniera of Mulassano, where they say the tramezzino sandwich was invented, or the Central Market of Porta Palazzo, the heart of the city in constant ferment, full of workshops and the output of the craftsmen, produced directly on site and enhanced by true artistic flourishes.

Because noble Turin has a brilliant soul, constantly evolving, which we could talk about for a very long time, just as we could about the stars that illuminate the city.

La magia di Torino scalda il cuore, soprattutto nel periodo Natalizio. La Mole Antonelliana svetta con la sua stella, che dicono canalizzi energia positiva. Una stella per le stelle, come quelle esposte nel museo Nazionale del Cinema all’interno della Mole, e come tutte le luci che illuminano la città sabauda a regola d’arte. Vere e proprie opere d’arte irradiano, infatti, a novembre e dicembre un alto valore non solo visivo ma anche concettuale per la manifestazione Luci d’Artista. Luci pubbliche e private periodicamente si affievoliscono creando una coreografia luminosa, che immerge i passanti

in istanti di assoluta oscurità, per poi illuminare nuovamente la piazza. Il passaggio dalla luce all’oscurità genera aspettative che vengono addirittura superate, come accade nelle OGR Officine Grandi Riparazioni coi suoi ristoranti e spazi dove arti visive e performance si incontrano.Stessa esperienza si vive nel Borgo Medievale di Torino, dove il magico Presepe di Emanuele Luzzati è disseminato tra le sue stradine. Per doni insoliti e artigianali, piazza castello, piazza Solferino, piazza Santa Rita e il Cortile del Maglio ospitano chalet e mercatini natalizi.Ma tutta Torino brilla in questo periodo: si può

spaziare dal museo di Arte contemporanea del Castello di Rivoli alla ricercata Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo; dalla Pinacoteca Agnelli agli scatti di Camera, museo della fotografia.

Un cielo stellato, l'abbraccio dalle Alpi, il reticolo prezioso delle vie della città: per immortalare Torino dall’alto basta regalarsi un caffè nel bar all’ultimo piano del grattacielo di Intesa San Paolo, poi ci si lascia rapire dall’atmosfera del Museo Egizio, della Reggia di Venaria, di Palazzo Carignano, della nuova pista tra le nuvole della Curva Parabolica al Lingotto.Il consiglio è di passeggiare con sguardo perso in alto, ammirando i nobili palazzi della zona tra via Della Rocca e piazza Maria Teresa, sul Lungo Po e da Corso Vittorio a Piazza Vittorio con la splendida Chiesa della Gran Madre di fronte alla quale, si trova la statua di Vittorio Emanuele I, la cui direzione - così vuole la leggenda - indicherebbe il luogo in cui è nascosto il Santo Graal.

Riportando lo sguardo dritto davanti, si sente la presenza anche della magia nera, che tenta con le sue eleganti boutique, gallerie d’arte e aristocratici caffè dove sorseggiare un “Bicerin”, tipica bevanda calda di Torino, servita con grande stile nel caffè Confetteria al Bicerin o nell’incantevole pasticceria Stratta, in grandi bicchieri tondeggianti e composta da una mix di caffè, cioccolato e dolce crema di latte o morbida panna.

Una vera coccola lo è anche lasciarsi sedurre dai gianduiotti del Caffè baratti, dallo zabaione del caffè Fiorio, dai maitre “Cioccolatai” Guido Gobino e Guido Castagna, da Andrea Perino, che sforna ogni giorno fragranti pani, dolci e focacce con antichi grani e ricette segrete, oppure da un aperitivo o da una Jessica (sette strati di puro piacere al cioccolato e tiramisù) nel laboratorio del gusto ricavato all’interno della storica Farmacia Del Cambio, in una delle piazze

più magiche d’Italia, dove si affaccia anche lo splendido teatro Carignano.

Per vestirsi per le feste ci si può soffermare in piazza Vittorio, ricca di boutique ricercate (in zona si possono visitare anche le case di Carol Rama e Carlo Mollino). Poco lontano incanta la più antica gioielleria d’Italia, Musy, aperta nel 1707, da sempre fornitore di Casa Savoia, nota per il "Gran diadema", chiesto nel 1883 dal re Umberto I come regalo natalizio per sua moglie, regina Margherita.

Stellati realmente o per meritata fama sono anche diversi ristoranti torinesi, tra cui il nobile Del Cambio, che dal 1757 sedusse nei suoi saloni celebrità del calibro di Casanova, Puccini, Balzac, Nietzsche, Verdi, Marinetti, D’Annunzio, Eleonora Duse, Maria Callas e Audrey Hepburn.

Il lusso di un’esplorazione e di un’esplosione di emozioni, profumi e sapori si possono vivere anche all’Olfattorio, Bar a Parfums, dove ci degustano essenze come coppe di champagne, o alla Credenza di Fior Fior, dove gli “ingredienti buoni del territorio sono interpretati in modo particolare e fuori dell’ordinario”. Cucina neoclassica, tipica piemontese, nel Quadrilatero Romano si gusta a Le Tre Galline, uno tra i primi ristoranti della città, dove i tradizionali vitello tonnato, agnolotti al sugo d’arrosto e bunet si rincorrono in un’esplosione di gusto.

Per un pranzo veloce infine, nulla è meglio della bomboniera art nouveau Mulassano, dove dicono sia stato inventato il tramezzino, o del Mercato Centrale di Porta Palazzo, cuore della città in continuo fermento, ricco di botteghe con le bontà degli artigiani preparate direttamente sul posto e vivacizzate da suggestioni d'arte.

Perché la nobile Torino ha un’anima brillante, in continua evoluzione, che potrebbe essere raccontata all’infinito. Come le stelle che la illuminano.
