BEN TULLIPAN

STAGE SCHEDULE

B en is Australia’s worst injured survivor of the 2002 Bali Bombings Terrorist Attacks, losing both his legs, most of his stomach muscles and received 63% full thickness burns to his body. He was given a 5% chance of survival. Not only did he fight on and survive his horrific injuries,

Ben’s inspiring ‘never say die’ attitude saw him learn to walk again on two prosthetic legs and start playing Golf.

Ben has competed in numerous State and Australian Amputee Golf Championships, winning or placing in his Division. He is living proof that life is worth living regardless of the obstacles & challenges in your way.

Ben is passionate about promoting sport, in particular Golf, to those with a disability, encouraging less able Australians of all ages and abilities to play Golf as a viable form of rehabilitation and recreation.

Ben currently volunteers for Empower Golf Australia, running the Empower Golf Queensland division. Empower Golf facilitates and promotes Golf for less able Australians by making the impossible, possible with an all-terrain revolutionary mobility device which manoeuvres individuals, particularly quadriplegics and paraplegics, but also amputees, the deaf, the blind, those with cerebral palsy, brain injuries, vision impairments and more into a standing position to replicate the full Golfing experience.

Ben has been awarded the 2006 Pride of Australia Medal for Courage, a 2006 Moncrieff Community Award, was named 2008 Gold Coast Citizen of the Year, graced the cover of the 2010 Gold Coast White Pages as a Courageous Australian, was named 2016 South East QLD Father of the Year, 2016 Queensland Father of the Year, was a Finalist in the 2016 United Nations Volunteer Awards and was awarded a 2016 Northern Gold Coast Community Award.
