OFFICIAL ROUTE AND PROGRAM* SEASON 1945 *

Mu

As this, the season of 1945, comes to an end,

I wish to extend to every person in this organiza-

tion — from front to back — also, the advance forces

— my deep-felt thanks and appreciation for their

full cooperation, and the faithful fulfillment of

their duties during the past season, a season of

history-making incidents unparalleled in all cir-

cus annals.

Each and every one's unstinted loyalty and

the prevalent old-time philosophy of the Cole

Brothers' circus folk that "The Show Must Go On,"

helped make it possible for us to carry on a com-

plete and successful tour.

As we head for Louisville and winter-quarters,

plans will already be under way for a bigger and

finer circus in 1946, and I sincerely hope we may

all be together again when we open next Spring.

ZACK TERRELL.

Three scenes of the wreck, July 27th, on the Northern Pacific

Railroad cnroute to Brainerd, Minn. Five flat-cars were "piled-

up" and damaged together with sixteen baggage wagons which

were completely destroyed. No one was injured seriously and no

animals hurt. A faulty journal on one of the flat cars caused the

wreck which necessitated the cancellation of seven stands in order

to make repairs at the Northern Pacific shops in Brainerd. The

route was resumed at Duluth, Minn., August 3rd.

THE STORYThe beggar thief of Bagdad, masquerading as the Prince of Soar, hasbeen invited by the Caliph to appear before his court and work some ofhis feats of magic. Entering the court with a large entourage, and seekingthe favor of the Caliph in order that he may ask for the hand of thePrincess in marriage, the Prince displays his largest and most effectiveillusion—a magnificently comparisoned chariot, which appears to beempty. Gaining the derisive and unbelieving attention of his audience, thePrince waves a magic wand, and behold! two beautiful dancing girlsappear in the chariot, seemingly from the thin air. They step forth andjoin in the seductive Oriental dance of the Harem girls, much to thedelight of the Caliph and his court. The Prince, whose life was to be theforfeit if he failed to properly entertain the Caliph, is pardoned, and thehand of the beautiful Princess is promised him in marriage.
