Basics of SVP

Small Volume Prover AKA: Ballistic Prover, SVP, Compact, UCDP

Definition of Provers Devices with “known traceable volume” designed to calibrate (prove) liquid flow meter’s accuracy and repeatability under actual operating conditions in the field or calibration laboratories.

API SVP Definition the term SVP applies to any prover that collects < 10,000 pulses between detectors

API’s Updated Definition - Unidirectional Captive Displacement Provers refers to type of displacer and switches Unidirectional Captive Displacement Prover In 2010 FMD was granted the first of six patents for prover design innovations.

Concern Issues – Pulse Delay MPM technology could have issues with “computational pulse-out delay” or “computational signal-out dampening delay”

Recommendations for Successful Proving All pulse-delays or dampening delays should be minimized as much as possible. The pulse out delays experienced in the early days of MBM meter technology has for the most part been alleviated in today’s newer MPM technology.

Coriolis Meter Summary FMD estimates 50% of SVP provers in service are used w/ Coriolis meters. The myth of SVP/MPM problems have been resolved.
