State TournamentSELECTION PROCESS

Tournament officials are selected by a state-wide vote of four groups (weighted equally):

• Head Coaches• School Administrators• Officials Associations• Officiating Leaders

Votes are totaled and officials are ranked based on the composite score from the four voting groups. The rankings determine the level of tournament the official is eligible for.

A comprehensive description of the voting process is set forth at myOHSAA.org under the My Ratings tab.

A committee (SRIs, DOD and OHSAA Administrators) assigns State Tournament Officials from the pool of Class 1 eligible officials.

No Repeat Rule (instituted for the 2004-2005 season) – Officials may work a State Tournament 2 out of 3 years.
