NATURE OF CASE This lawsuit arises out of afour-vehicle, intersection collision when the Chevrolet Tahoe sport utility vehicle driven by defendant Jaime Alvarez-Ruiz ran a red light and struck two vehicles, one of which was driven by plaintiff John Goslin. Plaintiffs Stacey Goslin and Danielle Bain were passengers in Mr. Goslin's vehicle. The force of the impact caused Mr. Goslin's vehicle to back into a fourth vehicle. The accident occurred just after midnigni on October 10, 2017, at the intersection of Arbor Vitae Street and Airport Boulevard, in the City of Inglewood. Deputy Sheriffs were pursuing Mr. Alvarez-Ruiz because he was driving recklessly by speeding and driving without his headlights turned on. Just after the deputies ceased their pursuit, the collisions occurred. P{aintiffs claim to have suffered injuries and damages as a result of the accident. Due to the risks and uncertainties ofi litigation, a full and final settlement of the case is warranted.

On August 31, 2018 Ms. Morales, a 28-year-old fiemale who was 39 weeks pregnant was admitted to Olive View Medical Center ("OVMC") for routine induction of labor. On September 2, 2018, Ms. Morales underwent a cesarean section.
Ms. Morales and her newborn infant were later transferred to UCLA Medical Center where they both died within one week as a result of an indiscernible and previously undiagnosed genetic condition that (Jis. morales suffered irom.
Ms. fViorales's husband, and their minor son, filed a wrongful death action against the County contending that OVMC failed to provide adequate medical care to 11~s. fViorales, which caused her death and the death of her newborn infant.

Call to Order.
This meeting of the County of Los Angeles Claims Board was called to order at 9:35 a.m. The meeting was held via teleconference with all Claims Board Members participating telephonically. Claims Board Members online for the teleconference meeting were: Chair Steve Robles, Arlene Barrera, and Adrienne Byers.
All other persons also appeared telephonically. Those attending the meeting were: Office of the County Counsel: Casey Yourn, Katherine Bowser, Shawn Luna, Jennifer Lehman, Michael Gordon, and Narbeh Bagdasarian; Chief Executive Office: Amir Alam; Department of Public Works: Alicia Ramos; Department of Children and Family Services: Armand Montiel; Department of Health Services: Arun Patel; and Outside Counsel: Tomas A.
