Ogden's StrongFocus on LearningOur day begins with theLiteracy Block: 90minutes of focusedinstruction with thehomeroom teacher inReading, Writing andOral Communication. ANumeracy Block followslater in the daycomplemented byinstruction in Sciences,the Arts (Music, Drama,Dance) and PhysicalEducation. Additionlearning supports areprovided throughEnglish as a SecondLanguage Resource,Special Educationresource and the HomeSchool Program.
Ogden is one of the oldest schools in Toronto. The originalPhoebe Street School was erected on this site in 1855. Ourcurrent building constructed in 1957, features 14 classrooms anda spacious library, gymnasium and naturalized outdoorplayground. The Ogden Day Care provides on-site childcarebefore, during and after the school day.
A Kind and Caring LearningCommunity Ogden Jr. PS is a safe and caring learning environment. Ourinclusive philosophy creates a community where all learners feelwelcome and supported.Monthly Character Education assemblies reinforce the conceptthemes woven through each school month, such as: Empathy,Teamwork, Honesty and Perseverance. Student Leaders organize School Spirit Days such as "BeachDay" and "Crazy Hair Day" which encourage fun and creativitywhile building a sense of community.

Focus on TechnologyOur academic program is further enriched through the use of technology, We have tech tubs withgoogle chrome books and ipads. Children regularly use a range of applications to enhance theirlearning in a variety of subjects.
Focus on Healthy LivingOgden students participate in Physical Education classes. Students are encouraged to participatein school Athletics Teams such as: Cross-Country, Track and Field, Volleyball and Basketball. Clubs include: Chess Club, Art Club, Origami Club, and the Scrabble Club. The Ogden NutritionProgram provides a daily, healthy snack for all students each morning.
The Ogden School CouncilAll parents are invited to join the Ogden School Council. In addition to acting as an advisory groupto the principal, the Ogden School Council has organized After School Activities, Movie Nights andParent Information Evenings. Language interpreters are available at all meetings and specialevents.
International Languages ProgramOgden also offers daily language instruction in Mandarin as part of the TDSB InternationalLanguages Integrated Day Program.

Language Interpreters are available at all parent meetings andspecial events. Parent volunteers in and outside of the classroom assist andsupport student learning. Currently our Parents and Community Neighbours are engaged inthe Ogden Playground Project, "Beautiful Place, BeautifulSpace". We hope to access additional funding to enhance ourcurrent naturalized outdoor space with a new Playground andcommunity space featuring benches and chess tables. We hope you can join us!
