WHERE ARE MY CRYSTAL REPORTS?
Crystal reports are going away,
so how are you going to pull all that data out of your database?
“Oh, Crystal Ball,
Do I really need to transfer ALL of my crystal reports to SSRS,
or can I use a different reporting mechanism?”
Association Technology Solutions
HOW CAN I VIEW ALL MY REPORTS
iMIS provides several ways for you to grab all the information you have
housed in your database and easily display it for your staff and members.
• IQA
• Dashboards
• SSRS Reports
How do I choose the RIGHT one?

IQA

WHAT IS IQA?
Intelligent Query Architect (IQA) is a query-building tool that extracts
data from the iMIS database. IQA simplifies query-building tasks by
providing a user-friendly interface that makes it easy for a user to build
queries and reports.
Association Technology Solutions
WHAT CAN I DISPLAY?
• Display targeted information to users
• Present queries to users with runtime prompts
• Allow users to create ad hoc, dynamic reports
• Organize data for mailings and letter merges
• Gather data for business analysis
Association Technology Solutions
WHY WOULD I USE IQA?
• Member search on your website
• Generate and export lists to Word, PDF, Excel or XML
• Sources for dashboards
• Create recipient lists for e-mail communications
Association Technology Solutions
EXAMPLES
• Active members by type
• Company rosters
• Committee rosters
• Recent orders
• Event registrations
• Donations by month

HOW CAN I DISPLAY AN IQA QUERY
• Query Chart Viewer
• Query Menu
• Progress Tracker
• Summary Display
Association Technology Solutions
QUERY CHART VIEWER
Display your query results in one of the following chart types:
• Area
• Bar – Horizontal
• Bar – Vertical
• Bubble
• Donut
• Funnel
• Line
• Pie
Association Technology Solutions
QUERY MENU
Select the IQA query you wish to display, then give it a title, parameters,
columns, labels, and sorting you need. You can also allow users to export
the results.
No need to pick just one! Display several queries in a folder and allow
users to utilize a drop down menu to select the report they wish to run.
Association Technology Solutions
PROGRESS TRACKER
The Progress Tracker allows you to display progress towards a goal
based on the results of an IQA query.
Association Technology Solutions
SUMMARY DISPLAY
Summary Display allows you to display a single row of query results in
a form view.
Association Technology Solutions
DASHBOARDS
Dashboards display summary information through the use of IQA queries.
Association Technology Solutions
WHAT IS A DASHBOARD?
Out of the box dashboards include Community, Membership, Events,
Commerce, Fundraising, and Advanced Email. These dashboards
provide a summary of these navigation items.
Dashboards allow you to visualize your data using charts, graphs,
progress trackers, and alerts. View yearly trends, membership totals,
and fundraising goals all in one place.
Association Technology Solutions
HOW DO I POPULATE A DASHBOARD?
Using the IQA related dynamic content items, or iParts, you can display
any IQA query on any dashboard.
You can even create new dashboards for members of your staff or
particular members including an Executive and/or Board Member
dashboards!
Association Technology Solutions
SSRS
SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) can be used for both static and dynamic reporting needs in iMIS. You can create these reports starting with an IQA query.
Association Technology Solutions
WHY WOULD I USE IT?
Take advantage of the power of IQA before converting your report to
SSRS.
Some situations that require Reporting Services over IQA include:
• Display a different type of chart or graph than is available
• Change the chart from listing counts to showing percentages
• Add special header/footer, logos, and print layout for printing
purposes
• Output records in a list format with one per page
• Add additional parameters not found in a business object

NEXT STEPS
To get started with converting your old Crystal Reports, sit down with your staff and determine what reports you still use and will need converted. Start with the following questions:
• Do I need to print off this report to hand to someone? SSRS
• Do I need to display this information for an executive or member to see? Dashboard
• Is this an internal report that our staff uses on a daily basis? IQA and possibly on a Dashboard
• This report is not run frequently, but I need the data for analysis. IQA
• I have several ad hoc searches that I use to send communications to membership. IQA
