Release of Ohio Industrial EcosystemsAligned with OFRN Focus Areas

• Effort funded by OFRN using approach followed by DDC to map UAS ecosystem in Southwestern Ohio.

• Effort done by Global Glu, Inc. under contract to WSARC.

• Approach is NAICS code based.

• Six “playbooks” have been provided to WSARC and areavailable to the general public.

• Playbooks are available in two forms:- Hard copy- Tableau Reader based software tool

• OFRN is using this tool as a starting point for invitations to our industry outreach events.

• If you are interested in learning more or getting a copycontact Becky Mescher of WSARC ([email protected])

I-Corps@Ohio

I-Corps trains research scientists how to evaluate the commercial

potential of innovative technologies using lean principles

Created by the National Science Foundation (NSF) in 2011;

several federal agencies now use the training program

Nearly 1,000 university research teams from around the country

have participated; approximately 50% start new companies

I-Corps@Ohio was launched in 2015 with funding from the Ohio

Department of Higher Education

OFRN collaborates with I-Corps@Ohio in Winter 2017; eight

teams selected for 14-week custom training program

Page 18: Ohio Federal and Military Jobs Commission (OFMJC ......Modeling/Simulation/Analysis 4 Projected Growth over 5 years: 2,500 new jobs for Ohioans $350 million in new federal research

I-Corps@Ohio OFRN:Learning Objectives

• Learn business modeling concepts and how they are relevant to commercialization

• Test your assumptions about the critical parameters of the commercial opportunity

• Develop a rich understanding of the customer market and the true needs for your proposed products and services

• Validate the clearest path to market that encourages long-term development relationships with industry
