Oilonoil,gas,anddualfuelburnersarefullyautomatic,safe,andreliable.Thefundamentalsofthedesignandmanufacturingoftheburnersareeconomy,safety,serviceandenvironmentalfriendliness.OurgasburnerscomplywiththestandardEN676,oilburnerswiththestandardsEN230andEN267,anddualfuelburnerswithallofthesestandards.

Construction

Ahousingofweldedsteelsheetswithasurfacefinishwithdurable,high-glosspaint.Aremovablecoverlocatedontopoftheburnermakesiteasytocarryoutmaintenanceonthenozzleandignitionelectrodesasthisdoesnotrequireremovaloftheburner.Thecombustionheadanddiffuserdisc,whicharemadefromastainlesssteelalloy,withstandatemperatureofapprox.1,200°C.Theflowofairinthecombustionheadisautomaticallycontrolled(optimisationofthepressurelossatthecombustionhead)toachieveoptimumcombustionparametersthroughoutthecapacityrange.Theburnercontainsasightglassforflameobservation.Anairdamperassemblyonthesuctionsideofthefanautomaticallycontrols,togetherwiththeservo-motor,thefuelandairflowsaccordingtotherequiredoutput.

Suitable applications

Theburnersaresuitableforwarmandhotwaterboilers,steamboilers,hotairgeneratorsandvarioustypesofprocessheatingequipment.Theycanbemountedinhorizontal,verticalandupward-facing,orverticalanddownward-facingorientation.

Thestructure,materialsandenclosureclassoftheburnersrequireindoorsoperation.

Burnersusingotherfuelsareavailableonrequest.

Capacity regulation methods

Allburnersaremodulating.Theyareequippedwithanairdamperservomotorwithatransitiontimeof60s/90°.Theservomotorisconnectedtotheoilregulatorandcompoundregulatorviaanaxle.Theburneroperatesontheentirecapacityrangeaccordingtotheload.Theburn-ersarecontrolledaccordingtothefluegasanalysis.

Booster unit PKYK for light fuel oil

ThemodelsKPandGKPareequippedwithaseparateboosterunit,whichincludesanoilfilterandaboosterpumpwithcompletepiping.

Booster unit PKYR for heavy fuel oil

ThemodelsRPandGRPareequippedwithaseparatepreheaterandboosterunit,whichcomprisesanoilfilter,boosterpumpandanelectricmasspreheater.

Thepreheaterismadefromacastaluminiumalloy,andincludesembeddedoilpipingandelectricresistancecoils.Thecapacityofonepreheateris6kW.Thepreheateriscontrolledbysolid-staterelaysandbyanelectronicregulator,whichkeepstheoiltemperaturestable.Astableoiltemperaturehelpstoensurethattheoilmixesadequatelywiththecombustionair,helpingtoobtainoptimalcom-bustionparameters.Dependingonthemodel,thePKYRmayhavethreeormorepreheatingunits.

Intheheavyoilburners,theoilheatedduringthepre-purgephaseflowstothenozzlethroughthepreheatertoensurethattheoiltemperatureishighenoughinthenozzleduringtheignitionphase.

Gas equipment

Thegas-relatedcomponentsofthegasanddualfuelburnerscomplywiththestandardEN676:twoshut-offvalves,pres-sureswitches(min./max.)andanautomaticvalveleaktester.Otherpiping-relatedequipmentisavailableonrequest.

Oil piping

Theoilpipingisinstalledmainlyintheburner,andincludesthreesolenoidvalves.Theoilregulatorislocatedontheoillinereturningfromthenozzle.ThepipingbetweentheburnerandthePKYK/PKYRistobebuiltonsite.

Flame monitoring

Allmodelsareequippedwithautomaticflamemonitoring.InKPandRPmodels,flamemonitoringiscarriedoutbyaphotocell;inGP,GKP,andGRPmodels,itiscarriedoutbyanUVcell.

Control devices

Theburnercontrolautomaticsareassembledinasepa-ratecontrolcabinet,whichcontainsacontrolunit,signallamps,thecapacitycontrollerandoperatingswitches.Thecontrolunitautomaticallycarriesoutallthefunctionphasesoftheburner.

Intheeventofaburnerfailure,thesystemautomaticallystopstheburner.Themodulatingburnersalsoincorporateapre-installedcapacitycontroller.Ifrequired,theburnercanalsobesuppliedwithelectronicfuel/airratiocontrolatanaddedcost.

Accessories

Eachofthefuelcontrolvalvesandtheairdampermaybeequippedwithaservomotor(electronicfuel/airratiocontrol).Anairdistributionboxshouldbeinstalledundertheburner,incaseofairductcannotbeinstalledvertically(lengthofstraightverticalpartshouldbeatleast1.5m)undertheburner.

2 Calculatetheburnercapacity.Burnercapacity=boilercapacity/efficiency.Example:boilercapacity=10,000kW,efficiency=90%→Burnercapacity=10,000kW/0.9=11,110kW.

3 Gasburners:Calculatetherequiredgasflow[m3n/h].Therequiredgasflow[m3n/h]=(burnercapacity[kW]x3.6)/thecalorificvalueofthegas[MJ/m3n].Example:therequiredburnercapacity=11,110kW→there-quiredgasflow=(11,110kWx3.6)/35.8MJ/m3n=1,117m3n/h,where35.8MJ/m3nisthecalorificvalueofnaturalgas.Oilburners:Calculatetherequiredoilflow[kg/h].Therequiredoilflow[kg/h]=(burnercapacity[kW]x3.6)/thecalorificvalueofoil[MJ/kg].Example:therequiredburnercapacity=11,110kW→therequiredoilflow=(11,110kWx3.6)/40.5MJ/kg=988kg/h,where40.5MJ/kgisthecalorificvalueofheavyfueloil.

4 Seethebrochureforaburnerwithasufficientrangeofcapacity.Example:Aburnerof11,110kWofcapacity,firingnaturalgasandheavyfueloilisneeded.Theappropri-ateburnerforthesespecificationsisGRP-1000ME.

5 Calculatetherequiredcombustionairflowandpres-sure.Example:therequiredburnercapacity=11,110kW,thepressurelossoftheboilerandchimneyatthisburnercapacityis15mbar.

Example:Thecombustionairflowrequiredwhenusingnaturalgaswithafluegasoxygenvalueof3%iscalcu-lated.Tocombust1m3nofnaturalgastoproducea3%oxygencontentinthefluegas,approximately11.3m3nofairisrequired(seediagram2,page9).Therequiredcombustionairflow=1,117m3n/hx11.3m3n/m3n=12,620m3n/h.Thecombustionairflowisalsotobecalculatedwhenusingheavyfueloil.Tocombust1kgofheavyfueloilproducingafluegasoxygencontentof3%,approximately12.4m3nofairisrequired(seediagram1,page9).Therequiredcombustionairflow=988kg/hx12.4m3n/kg=12,250m3n/h.Therequiredfanoutputiscalculatedbymultiplyingtherequiredcombustionairflowwiththesafetyfactor1.05.Thelargerfigureisselectedforthecombustionairflow,i.e.12,620m3n/h,andthefanoutputrequiredforthisflowisapproximately1.05x12,620m3n/h=13,250m3n/h.Therequiredfanpressureiscalculatedusingthemax.airflow.Therequiredflowpressurep[mbar]=(thepressurelossgeneratedbytheboilerandthechimney+thepressurelossoftheairducts+max.pressurelossintheburner,35mbar)xsafetyfactor1.05.Example:Thepressurelossgeneratedbytheboilerandthechimney=15mbar,thepressurelossoftheairducts=5mbar,max.pressurelossoftheburner=35mbar.Therequiredfanpressurep=(15mbar+5mbar+35mbar)x1.05=58mbar.Afanapplicableinthiscasehastoproduceaflowofapproximately13,250m3n/hatapressureof58mbar.

N.B:Theairducttobeconnectedwiththeburnershouldrundirectlyfrombelowtheburner,anditshouldbe

straightforadistanceofnolessthan1.5metresbeforetheburner.Iftheductcannotbeinstalledinthisway,anairdistributionboxshouldbeused.Forinformationonairdistributionboxes,seepage9.

6 Gasburners:Fromtheselectiontableforgasvalves,selectasufficientvalvesizeaccordingtotheburnercapacity.Notethatthevaluesintheselectiontableapplywhenthefurnacebackpressureis0mbar.Thereforeyoumustsubtractthefurnacebackpressurefromtheactualgasinletpressure,andselectthevalveaccordingtothevaluethusobtained.Theratingsshowninthetableapplytonaturalgas.

Example:Thegasinletpressureoftheburner=200mbar,theboilerbackpressure=18mbarandtherequiredburnercapacity=11,110kW.Theeffectivepressureistherefore200mbar-18mbar=182mbar.FortheburnerGRP-1000ME,forexample,avalvegeneratingacapacityofnolessthan11,110kWwithagasinletpressureof182mbarshouldbechosen.ThevalveDN80isselectedforthisburner.

7 Oilburners:Selectanappropriateboosterunitaccord-ingtotheburnercapacity.ThelightfueloilburnersusethemodelPKYKandtheheavyfueloilburnersPKYR.Theboosterunitforlightfueloilisselectedusingthediagram3.Theboosterunitforheavyfueloilisselectedusingthediagram4.Forburnercapacityof988kg/h,forexample,therequiredtemperaturedifferenceintheboosterunitis45°C.ThediagramshowsthattheappropriateboosterunitisPKYR3.

8 Checkthattheexternaldimensionsoftheburner,particularlythelengthofthecombustionhead,aresuitablefortheapplication.Thecombustionheadlengthshouldbesuchthattheheadisflushwiththefurnacewallorapprox.10-20mminsidethefurnace(see‘Masonryfigure’).

9 Checkthedimensionsoftheflameintheflamedimensionsdiagram.Notethattheflamemustnottouchthefurnacewalls.

10 Donotforgettheaccessories:gaspressureregulator,oilpumpingandpreheatingunit,boilerthermostats/pressostats.

OilonMLmasspreheaterkeepstheoiltemperaturestableeveniftheincomingtemperaturefluctuates.Onaccountoftheconstructionandtheelectronicregulator,thetemperatureoftheoilflowingtothenozzleremainsstable.Theburnermay,dependingonthecapacityandmodel,haveoneormore6-kWheatersequippedwithasafetydevicetoguardagainstoverheating.Theelectronicregulatorhasanintegratedminimumtemperaturelimiteraswell;thispreventstheburnerfromstartingiftheoilistoocold.
