BERNARD CONTROLS’ declutch-f ree handwheel is

a patented manual override system. The dif ferent ial gear

drive allows the handwheel to be operated w ithout releasing

a clutch beforehand.

The handwheel can therefore be operated under

all condit ions, even when a high torque is applied

to the valve (i.e. wedge gate valve closed t ight).

Fieldbus is advantageous because it allows get t ing more informat ion while reducing

the overall w iring on site. BERNARD CONTROLS actuators can be connected to most of the

standard ieldbus available on the market (Proibus DP, Foundat ion ieldbus, Modbus RTU…).

In order to ease the command and control of large quant it ies of MOVs, BERNARD CONTROLS

On the other hand, security is crit ical for complex

processes. Most ieldbus systems clearly of fer a

good level of reliability , especially w ith PLC

technology and redundant communicat ion systems.

However, when an actuator has to be removed from the

ield, for instance for maintenance operat ions, that breaks

up the cont inuity of the line and the whole installat ion

is af fected since the signal cannot circulate anymore.

BERNARD CONTROLS proposes a special device

to deal w ith such issue and ensure bus cont inuity.

Our actuators can host a special Proibus connect ion

board, located in the cover of the w iring compartment .

This cover can simply be removed from the actuator and

closed t ight by a special type plate, ensuring cont inuity

of signal throughout the line.

Moreover, BERNARD CONTROLS explosion proof

actuators and Master Stat ion can include a lightning

protect ion which acts as a shield and discharges

overvoltage to avoid any damage in case of lightning

st roke on the line. Voltage goes back to standard level

and valves' automat ion can resume.

motor proves to be a key step to ensure the reliabilit y of

the device. In order to secure good achievement

of modulat ing operat ions, the actuator’s motor must stand

up repet it ive start s under load w ithout overheat ing.

featuring the S4 duty rat ing according to IEC34 standard.

implies kilometers of pipelines going across fields, deserts, seas… unt il these reach storage or distri but ion facilit ies.

It is thus not always easy to quickly detect, evalu ate and solve a problem when it happens in a remote or hardly

accessible area. BERNARD CONTROLS commits to provid ing intelligent actuat ion solut ions enhancing the s ecurity

level of your site, while remaining user friendly.

In order to isolate large valves i t ted on pipes, high start ing

torques are required. BERNARD CONTROLS’ asynchronous

motors used for Explosion proof series have high rat io

between start ing torque and nominal torque. With this design,

actuators can not only ensure unseat t ing of valves w hich

are seldom operated but also stand repet it ive starts.

BERNARD CONTROLS INTELLI+ is a turn-key solut ion which

eases the commissioning, monitoring and maintenance of

an installat ion. It allows access to key informat ion through

a user friendly and intuit ive interface.

Moreover, the user can monitor precisely and cont inuously

the status of his valves thanks to INTELLI+ smart features:

• Absolute sensors constant ly measure the posit ion &

torque of the valve and do not require any bat tery back

up to give the right values after loss of power supply,

• Cont inuous performance monitoring and up to 17

dif ferent types of faults and alarms,

• Signaling bat tery back-up (on opt ion) allows to use

the INTELLI+ display, update remote signaling and refresh

ieldbus informat ion in case of loss of power supply,

• Part ial st roking to check the availability of a connected

maintenance is a key issue for site engineers.

BERNARD CONTROLS INTELLI+ helps the user w ith system

diagnosis and aid in scheduling valves preventat ive

propose as an opt ion for explosion proof actuators,

two eficient systems: a ire jacket or an intumescent

coat ing. These two systems allow the actuator to

at a temperature exceeding 1000°C.

Test of BERNARD CONTROLS' fire protect ion: Af ter 30 m inutes in fire

temperature over 1000°C, the actuator 's inside comp onents are safe.
