Transducer Firing Synchronization Patent
!! Redundant electronics are not free running !! Firing of the 16 transducers is synchronized
to avoid signal collisions between the transducer paths
!! Having CPU boards connected also allows the combining of 4 path meter information into an 8 path meter output from either electronics

Summary and Conclusions
!! OIML and ISO Perturbation testing for Type Approval - although a costly and time consuming effort - brings a wealth of test results that helps understanding and reducing the effects of flow disturbances and hence reduce measurement uncertainty.
!! Results are well within the OIML and MID Class 1.0% when using 5D – FC – 10D – USM – 5D, most are within Class 0.5%
!! Further improvement can be expected with a more efficient FC is used and or longer Lmin.
!! Dual multipath meters (2 x 4, 1 x 8) further help to reduce flow disturbances effects, but need to be synchronized to avoid signal collisions between the transducer paths
!! OIML 137-1&2: 2012 is more stringent compared to OIML 137-1: 2006)

Martin’s Acknowledgements !! CPA for the donation of 36” and 24” Flow Conditioners !! Danny Sawchuk for all the CFD models and time spent
explaining them to me!! !! Wayne Haner and the crew from TransCanada Calibrations
for their diligent efforts in completing all the configurations and testing in a timely manner.
!! Klaus Zanker for analyzing the data and assuring me that I wasn’t the only one confused by the specs!!
!! David Brown and Kyle Kergen of Daniel for helping fill in whenever I’d leave during testing, usually on very short notice!!
