It’s always fun to be in on some-thing new so prepare for a lot of fun as The Lodge At The Lake,

1111 S Parrott Ave., revamps the old Clock Restaurant to make it a family-friendly eating spot. Owners Harold DeLange and Robert Lambert also own the Landing Strip Restaurant.

The décor is a blending of a country inn and a hunting lodge where the walls, when finished, will all be cy-press paneled and the color scheme will be wood tones. New booths will be the next step. They have already completely re-styled the meeting room the use of which they offer at no charge for special group-use.

The Lodge is moving to an all-home-cooked menu which even features spaghetti and lasagna. Their break-fast bar is open every day from 6 to 2, with a lunch buffet starting at 11. This $7.99 buffet features soups from

Hungarian Goulash to Tomato Floren-tine, a massive salad selection, some meat dishes, desserts and even your drink. The Senior Specials, served from 2:30 to 5:30 are only $4.99.

The Lodge Club loyalty program can save you 10%. Harold welcomes your

comments and suggestions saying, “If you don’t tell us, we don’t know. Every time you return, you are going to see changes and improvements.” Hours are Sunday thru Thursday 6 am to 9 pm, Friday and Saturday 6 to 10. Come and be pleasantly surprised.

The lake is slowly rising. If the summer rains continue we should see the lake reach the 10-foot level this week. The slow rise of the lake

is much preferred over a quick inundation of water that would bring unwanted pollutants and silt with it. In areas where the water is coming into the lake it is important to be aware of the water quality if you are looking for active fish. Many times current will create great feeding situations for game fish, bringing min-nows, insects and other food items to the fish in the moving water. Lipless crank baits are great search bait when looking for schooling (feeding) fish. Look for bass actively chasing bait.

Blue gill and shell cracker are moving around spawn-ing beds in the lake. The fish are very spooky and will move off if you get too close. The best way to catch them is by making a long cast. As the moon phase pro-gresses there should be a wave of fish move toward the

beds and lock onto them. They will definitely be easier to get close to. Crickets, grass shrimp and red worms will all work. Try them all and see which produces best.
