I am 100% sure I will never forget the friendships and wonderful memories I’ve made this past year through Beta. As a kid from a small town, who thought playing basketball and football was all that mattered, Beta has opened my eyes to a whole new world of possibilities. This journey has created so many more opportunities for me that I never thought possible.
Having the opportunity to represent Junior Beta as a National Officer has been a dream come true. I have been blessed by the Betas I have met across the various states I have visited as a National Officer and I will forever be thankful. The friendships I have made with the other National Officers and State Officers will last a life time. Beta promotes character, leadership, service, and achievement. If we follow these pillars daily, the world would most definitely be a better place.
I cannot imagine life without my Beta family and the experiences I have gained throughout the past year. I have learned that being a part of Beta isn’t enough, we should BE BETA each and every day. Next year, I am eager to continue to serve in the Beta organization through different capacities.
In all I do, I try to keep God and faith first. As a leader in my school, I stand firm in my Christian belief. All that I’ve done through Beta coincide with those beliefs and I’m honored and humbled to serve as the last National Chaplain. Through my time as Zion the Lion, at the Summer Leadership Camp and more, Beta has had a lasting, positive impact on my life. Beta is like a road and I am a car. I chose this road; it didn’t choose me. But without the road, I would not be able to drive or go anywhere.
I have enjoyed serving as the last National Junior Reporter. I am humbled by the opportunities I have had. From leadership camp last July to traveling to several state conventions, it’s impossible to describe all the wonderful experiences. The other officers and I have truly become a family. My favorite experiences were definitely playing gaga ball with new friends at camp, being inspired by the courageous speeches of newly elected officers, and enlarging my Beta family.

I have been honored to serve as one of the first National Leadership Representatives this year. Organizing service opportunities this year has been a highlight of my year. My favorite service project was hosting a Princess Party for underprivileged girls. Serving others through leadership has made the difference for me. I am very excited to be in Oklahoma City at the National Convention learning more ways to serve others and “Fueling My Future”.
As a National Leadership Representative, I had an opportunity to attend a Leadership Summit and to speak at this year’s District Day. Leading through service has been a lot of fun as my club sponsored a blood drive, collected food for a local food pantry, and visited a local nursing home. I am excited to meet and talk to everyone at the National Convention.
Overall my Beta experience has been amazing and I could not think of a better way to end my eighth-grade middle school career than serving as National Leadership Representative at the 2019 National Beta Convention. I have learned that in each Leadership Challenge or State competition, my role may be different and that if you focus on helping the team be the best it can be rather than being the best on the team, everyone will grow. This role has allowed me to collaborate and meet with students from different schools and to motivate others to lead as well. I have been blessed with the opportunity to be a leader in Beta Club at my school and serve my local and global community.
