Playoffs: After finishing the regular season by winning each of the last three games by an average of 14 points and earning a 48-34 record on the season (second in the Northwest Division), the Thunder is set to advance to the postseason for the eighth time in the past nine years, earning the second-most playoff berths of any NBA team behind San Antonio. The No. 4 seed Thunder produced its ninth straight season with a .500 or better record, one of just three teams (Houston and San Antonio) to maintain such a record in each of the last nine seasons. Oklahoma City is one of just four teams in the league to be in the Top 10 in both offensive and defensive efficiency (Golden State, Houston, Toronto). The Thunder ranked 10th in defensive rating with 104.7 and in offensive rating with 107.6.

Dominant in the Postseason: With a 115-93 win over Miami on April 9, the Thunder clinched its eighth playoff berth. Since the 2010 postseason, OKC has earned the fourth-most wins and ranks first in playoff blocks (635) and fast break points (1,498), second in rebounds (4,230) and second chance points (1,255), and third in points (9,796), steals (695), points in the paint (3,788) and points off opponent turnovers (1,442) while holding the sixth-best offensive rating (106.3).

Winter Wonders: After starting the season with an 8-12 record through the first 20 games, Oklahoma City posted a 40-22 (.645) record (53-win pace) during the final 62 games of the season. During this span, the Thunder compiled win streaks of six, seven and eight games. The Thunder’s .645 winning percentage after Dec. 1 represents the fifth-best record in the NBA during this period. Best vs. Best: With a 108-102 win at Houston on April 7, Oklahoma City improved to 6-3 against the three teams with a win percentage of .700 or better this season (Houston, Golden State, Toronto). This stands as the best record and most wins against those teams of any other NBA franchise this season.

Turnover a New Leaf: Oklahoma City leads the league in steals per game (9.06) and in opponent turnovers per game (16.0). Prior to this season, the Thunder have never finished within the Top 5 in the NBA in these categories since they moved to Oklahoma City as their previous season bests were 8.28 steals per game in 2012-13 and 15.2 opponent turnovers per game in 2013-14. Additionally, the Thunder topped the NBA leaderboard for deflections per game (16.8), forced turnovers on 15.9% of opponent possessions, which led the league, and recovered the most loose balls each game (9.5). Paul George ranked first in the league in deflections per game (3.9), second in total steals (161) and third in total loose balls recovered (139). Russell Westbrook recovered the most loose balls each game (2.2), was fourth in total steals (147) and was fifth in total deflections (263).

Russdiculous Performance: In the April 11 win over Memphis, Russell Westbrook grabbed a career-best 20 rebounds to average a triple-double on the season, making him the first player in NBA history to do so in multiple seasons. He tacked on a game-best 19 assists, to make him just the third player in league history with a 20+ rebound and 15+ assist-game (Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson, Guy Rogers). He also led the league in scoring last season (31.6 points per game) and this season led the NBA in assists (10.3 assists per game). No other player in NBA history has ever led the league in scoring and then assists in consecutive seasons. Westbrook finished 2017 with 38 triple-doubles, the most in a calendar year in NBA history ahead of Oscar Robertson’s 34 in 1961, beating his previous record of 31 from 2016 (per Elias). On Dec. 27 vs. Toronto, he passed Kevin Durant’s 15,942 points to become the leading scorer in Thunder history.

Leaders of the Pack: The Thunder had three players in the Top 5 league leaders as Russell Westbrook was first in the NBA in assists per game (10.3), Paul George had the second-most total steals (161) and Steven Adams had the fourth-best field goal percentage (.629, 448-712 FG). Additionally, Westbrook was fourth in terms of total steals (147), seventh in scoring (25.4) and 10th in rebounds per game (10.1) while Adams was 13th in rebounds per game (9.0) and Paul George was 17th in scoring (21.9).

Zero to 100: On March 13 at Atlanta, Russell Westbrook recorded his 100th triple-double of his career and 21st of the season with a game-leading 32 points on 12-of-20 shooting, game-high 12 rebounds and game-best 12 assists, making him the third-fastest player to 100 total (736 games) behind Oscar Robertson (277 games) and Magic Johnson (656 games). Of the other 29 NBA franchises, 24 have fewer triple-doubles in their entire team history than the 104 that Westbrook has logged in his career and since he entered the league in 2008, he holds more than twice as many as any other NBA franchise during that timeframe (Rockets have 43). Oklahoma City went 20-5 this season when Westbrook registered a triple-double and holds an 86-18 (.827) record over the course of his career. Westbrook holds the longest active streak in the NBA averaging a triple double at 193 games (second longest is LeBron James with 30 games).

Three’s a Crowd: Oklahoma City dropped a franchise-record 881 three-pointers this season, ahead of the previous-best 692 last season. Below are various data points and advanced basketball metrics for the 2017-18 season. • The Thunder forced turnovers on 15.9% of opponent possessions which led the NBA • Just 17.6% of opponent field goal attempts and shooting fouls drawn were in Transition which topped the NBA • Oklahoma City topped the league with an offensive rebounding percentage of 27.7% • The Thunder ranked eighth in the NBA in Net Rating with 2.9 and 10th in Defensive Rating with 104.7.

Adam(s)ant About Scoring: Steven Adams ranked fourth in the league in field goal percentage (.629, 448-712 FG) and was seventh in offensive rating (125.3). In three games from Dec. 1-5, totaled 66 points off 28-for-34 shooting. On Dec. 1 vs. Minnesota, Adams went 11-for-11 from the field and 5-for-5 from the charity stripe, matching the second-best shooting performance from the field in Thunder history after Serge Ibaka’s 12-for-12 on Jan. 31, 2014, and setting a new career-high with 27 points. He is also the only player in NBA history besides Chris Mullin on Dec. 1, 1990 to be perfect from both the field and free throw line with at least 11 and five attempts, respectively. On Nov. 20 at New Orleans, Adams scored his 2,500th-career point, making him one of just two players since he was drafted in 2013 with as many points and at least 300 blocks and 200 steals in less than 8,000 minutes (Mason Plumlee).

A Thunder Storm is Brewering: The Thunder went 11-5 since Corey Brewer’s first start on March 8 vs. Phoenix, which is the fourth-best record in that time. From then on, OKC ranked third in steals per game (9.44) and fourth in point differential (+6.9). In that same timeframe, Brewer logged the third-most steals of any NBA player (36) and seventh-most deflections (54). Since Brewer joined the team on March 3, OKC’s PACE improved from 20th in the league (98.69) to eighth (101.01).

Triple-Double Dip: In OKC’s win over Toronto on March 18, Westbrook registered his fifth straight triple-double with a game-leading 37 points, game-high 13 rebounds and game-best 14 assists. This marks his third streak of five triple-doubles and the only other player with as many such streaks is Oscar Robertson. Only four other players have recorded a triple-double in a road win over a team with a record at least 35 games above the .500 mark (Robertson, John Havlicek, Bill Bridges, Jason Kidd) and Westbrook was the highest scoring of the five (via Elias). In the Thunder’s 110-91 win over the Bucks on Oct. 31, Westbrook produced his fourth with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, making him the only player in NBA history besides Oscar Robertson to record at least four triple-doubles in the first seven games of the season. Westbrook notched his third triple-double of the season and first against Chicago on Oct. 28 at Chicago with 12 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists, making him the only player in NBA history to log a triple-double against all 29 other teams in the league. On Oct. 19 vs. New York, Westbrook logged his 80th career and first opening night triple-double with 21 points, 16 assists and 10 rebounds, joining Oscar Robertson as the only other player in NBA history with at least 20 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds in a home opener. This makes him one of ten players in league history to record a triple-double on opening night (LeBron James, Jason Kidd, Chris Duhon, Gary Payton, Clyde Drexler, Scottie Pippen, Fat Lever, Larry Bird and Lewis Lloyd). His 16 assists are the most in an opening night triple-double in league history.

Wild, Wild Westbrook, the Lone Ranger: In the Thunder’s 100-94 victory over the Jazz on Dec. 5, Russell Westbrook blocked his 200th shot, setting himself apart as the only player in the history of the NBA with at least 200 blocks, 5,000 assists and 15,000 points within his first 700 games. In the March 18 win over Toronto, Westbrook dished out his 6,000th assist, making him the only active player besides LeBron James with at least 6,000 assists and 4,800 rebounds (one of 13 all-time).

Hip, Hip Jorge: Paul George tallied five straight games with at least five made three-pointers from Feb. 6-14, making him just the fifth player in NBA history and first Thunder player to produce such a streak (George McCloud, Dennis Scott, Stephen Curry, James Harden). Only McCloud has registered a longer streak (six games from Feb. 25 to March 5, 1996).

Not Taken for Grant(ed): In the Thunder’s win over Toronto on March 18, Jerami Grant scored his 1,000th point in an OKC uniform, making him just the fourth Thunder player with at least 1,000 points and 100 blocks in his first 150 games (Kevin Durant, Serge Ibaka, Nenad Krstic). On Dec. 20 vs. Grant blocked his 300th-career shot, which makes him the only player since he was drafted in 2014 to have at least 1,800 points and 300 blocks in less than 70 starts. Additionally, on Dec. 3 vs. San Antonio, Grant played his 100th game in an OKC uniform, making him the only player in Thunder history besides Serge Ibaka to log at least 600 points, 250 rebounds and 90 blocks in his first 100 games.

25K Magic: On Jan. 27 at Detroit, Carmelo Anthony scored his 25,000th career point, which makes him just the 21st player in NBA history and the 10th forward to reach that mark. Anthony is one of just four players in league history with as many points while shooting at least 34.5% from three-point range (Dirk Nowitzki, Reggie Miller, Paul Pierce) as well as the 11th fastest player to do so.

League of Legends: Oklahoma City sprinkles the NBA career leaderboards as Carmelo Anthony and Russell Westbrook hold the third and eighth best scoring averages among active players with 24.1 and 23.0, respectively. Additionally, Westbrook has the second-best career usage rating in NBA history (32.73) behind Michael Jordan and the fourth-best career assist percentage (42.4). Among active players, Westbrook has the sixth-highest career average for steals per game (1.74) while Paul George ranks eighth (1.71). George also holds the fourth-best career defensive rating among active players (101.59).

Like Mike: Russell Westbrook recorded 13 consecutive games from Dec. 20 to Jan. 13 in which he logged a double-double with at least 20 points. This sets him apart as just the second guard in NBA history to have such a streak of 10 games or more behind Michael Jordan who had 15 straight in 1989.

One T-Ferg the Record Books: In his first career start on Jan. 3 at L.A. Lakers, Terrance Ferguson scored a career-best and game-high-tying 24 points on 6-for-9 shooting from three-point range, making him just the third NBA player ever to record at least 24 points and six three-pointers in their first career start (DJ Augustin 2008, Sam Dekker 2017).

ThundeRuss Birthday: On Nov. 12, Russell Westbrook celebrated his 29th birthday with a 112-99 victory over the Dallas Mavericks. He stands as just one of three players in NBA history with at least 15,000 points, 5,000 assists and 4,000 rebounds before age 29 along with Oscar Robertson and LeBron James.

Paul in a Day’s Work: On Dec. 27 vs. Toronto, Paul George grabbed his 3,000th rebound and on Dec. 13 at Indiana he snagged his 800th-career steal, making him the only player since he was drafted in 2010 with at least 3,000 rebounds, 800 steals and a three-point percentage of .370 or better. In that same timeframe, he is one of just five players with at least 8,000 points in 400 starts or less alongside Damian Lillard, Isaiah Thomas, Kyrie Irving and Kemba Walker.

Abrinesolutely Amazing: On Dec. 9 at Memphis, Alex Abrines set a new career-high with 20 points (7-10 FG, 6-8 3FG) en route to scoring his 500th-career point. This makes him just the fifth player in Thunder history with at least 500 points, 37% shooting on 100 threes and 50 steals within his first 100 games (Kevin Durant, James Harden, Kevin Martin and Anthony Morrow).

20/20 Vision: On Oct. 28 at Chicago, Carmelo Anthony recorded a game-leading 21 points, making him the first player in Thunder history to score at least 20 points in his first six games with Oklahoma City. He also led the team in scoring eight times and logged six double-doubles.

Home Cooking: Since arriving in Oklahoma City in 2008, the Thunder has always taken pride in defending its home court. Dating back to the start of the 2009-10 season, OKC has gone 267-93 (.742) at home, which stands as the second-best home record in the NBA during this span. Since the 2013-14 season, Oklahoma City has earned 150 wins on home court, which ties Houston for the third-most home wins in that timeframe (Golden State 170, San Antonio 169).

100 for Billy: During the 2016-17 season, Billy Donovan notched his 100th career victory to become the first head coach in NBA history to win 100 games in the first two seasons after coming immediately from the college ranks. Moreover, Donovan is one of three current NBA head coaches to win 100 wins in two seasons with their current respective franchise (Carlisle and Kerr). In all of NBA history, only 18 coaches have won 100 games in their first two NBA seasons as head coach. Additionally, Donovan became just the third first-year head coach in the last 15 years to win 55+ games during his first season.

OK3: The trio of Russell Westbrook, Paul George and Carmelo Anthony combined for 5,992 total points last season, which is the most by any other set of three teammates in the league this year. They are followed by Minnesota’s Karl-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins and Jimmy Butler (5,810 combined points) and Cleveland’s Isaiah Thomas, LeBron James and Derrick Rose (5,307 combined points).

Fun and Olympic Games: This year’s Thunder squad contains three Olympic gold medalists for Team USA including Carmelo Anthony (2008, 2012, 2016), Russell Westbrook (2012) and Paul George (2016). Additionally, Carmelo Anthony holds the title of all-time leading scorer for the United States Olympic Men’s National Team. Oklahoma City also has two Olympic bronze medalists in Carmelo Anthony (2004) and Alex Abrines (2016) who played for Spain.

Collegiate Standouts: Nine of the Thunder’s 17 players have participated in a Final Four game including Carmelo Anthony, Corey Brewer, Nick Collison, PJ Dozier, Raymond Felton, Jerami Grant, Dakari Johnson, Kyle Singler and Russell Westbrook. Coach Donovan has coached Final Four games as well.

OKC is Fan Friendly: The Thunder once again played in front of a packed house at Chesapeake Energy Arena on opening night vs. New York on Oct. 19, recording its 300th consecutive sellout (including both regular season and playoffs). Oklahoma City was also named first in the league in fan experience following a league-wide audit last season and ranks third in the NBA in local TV ratings, fifth in season ticket subscriptions and renewals, and seventh in social media audience and merchandise sales. Fans in attendance this season will enjoy the improvements made to Chesapeake Energy Arena for the Thunder’s 10th anniversary including a Thunder Cares community outreach display, Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame viewing area, season ticket member recognition wall, interactive digital display where fans can share their stories, KultureCity sensory-inclusion area for fans that needs a calm, quiet atmosphere, digital Fan Assist to provide fans with real-time support, and much more.

Elite Company: Since the start of the 2009-10 season, the Thunder has won five Northwest Division titles, reached the Conference Finals on four occasions, the NBA Finals once and amassed a record of 466-256 (.645). Based on winning percentage, the Oklahoma City Thunder ranks as the seventh most winning team among the four major professional sports (NBA, NFL, MLB & NHL).

Sustaining Success: In the past nine seasons, OKC has compiled the second-best record in the NBA (behind San Antonio). After the 2008-09 season in which Oklahoma City won 20 games after a 3-29 start, the Thunder found ways to improve the club in each of the four subsequent seasons. With a 60-22 record during the 2012-13 season, Oklahoma City became just the second team in NBA history (Boston, 1955-1960) to increase its winning percentage for five consecutive seasons (while maintaining a winning percentage of .700 or better in two of those seasons). Oklahoma City has now finished with a winning percentage of .610 (equivalent to 50 wins) six times dating back to the 2009-10 season. Only the San Antonio Spurs (eight seasons with .610 or better winning percentage), have reached that benchmark more during this period. After finishing the 2017-18 season with a record of 48-34, OKC is now one of three teams (Houston and San Antonio) to maintain a .500 or better record in each of the last nine seasons. The chart to the below illustrates the development of the Thunder program through the years.

Blue Review: The Thunder’s G League affiliate, the Oklahoma City Blue earned a 28-22 record this season and clinched the Midwest division title and a playoff berth after defeating the Austin Spurs (San Antonio Spurs affiliate) 98-94 on Thursday, March 22. Oklahoma City ranked fifth in the G League in three-pointers made per game (12.7) as Bryce Alford led the league with 186 on the season. The Blue has a defense that ranked sixth in opponent turnovers per game (17.9) and eighth in steals per game (9.56). Two-way player Daniel Hamilton led the team in assists in 39 of the 45 games he appeared in and is fourth in the league in assists per game (8.0) and 11th in rebounds per game (9.0). Hamilton has also notched a league-leading nine triple-doubles this season, including three straight from Nov. 18-24. Michael Cobbins held the second-best field goal percentage among G Leaguers with .673 (175-260). Additionally, Rashawn Thomas was named to Team USA for the FIBA World Cup Qualifying first round, the teams’ second such selection this season.
