/ SUPERINTENDENTAround the world, the signs of Christmas abound! No other time of year compares with the celebration of this Sea-

son. For the single most important event in the history of man-

kind illuminated the sky across the sleepy village of Bethlehem.

The angelic appearance unfolded before the shepherds’ eyes.

The proclamation startled the men as God revealed His plan for

the ages. That announcement proclaimed hope for the world,

and yet, the first revelation came not to the elite, the ruling

class, or even the zealous righteous delegation. Instead,

the “common” man, we know as shepherds, comprised

the audience.

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, took upon Himself the form of a baby. He relin-quished His position of Deity in order to put on the adornment of humanity. He allowed His destiny to be charted by a cross yet conveyed by a cradle.

Today, we enjoy the laughter, the family time, the hugs and the

kisses. Children and grandchildren return to the comforts of

“home” as aromas emerge from a kitchen. Presents occupy the

thoughts of all ages, but especially delight the little ones. We

carol, we eat, we reflect, and we shop – all with the enthusiasm of

Christmas cheer!

Yet – may we never forget –JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON!

From the Cargill home to our cherished Oklahoma family, MERRY

CHRISTMAS! May you experience His joy and discover His peace.

Calvin Duane Brogdon, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, was born on June 16,

1957 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the third of four children born to Calvin “Cal” Clayton and

Nelda Lorene (Hicks) Brogdon. He passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Integris

Baptist Medical Center, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

An ordained minister with the Assemblies of God, he devoted himself to more than 30 years

in full-time ministry. Brogdon received his ministry credentials in February 1976, and was or-

dained in October 1982. Duane served as senior pastor at Hope Worship Center since December 1988. Under his

leadership, the church grew, purchased land, and built beautiful facilities at its present location, near 81st Street

South and U.S. Highway 169. He also led the congregation in the formation of the Hope Learning Center, providing

child care and day care to families.

Prior to his 22 years at Hope Worship Center, Pastor Brogdon served as senior pastor at churches in Chickasha,

Oklahoma, and Oklahoma City. He was also a youth pastor at several congregations in Texas, Oklahoma, and Ten-

nessee. His only child, Trae, followed in his father’s ministry footsteps, serving a congregation as music minister at

The Gathering Place, in Sanford, Florida.

Pastor Brogdon was a former leader of the Tulsa Area Assemblies of God Ministerial Alliance. He also had served

on various state church committees.

Duane was preceeded in death by his father. He is survived by his son, Trae, of Lake Merry, Florida; mother and her

husband, Lorene and Logan Gantz, of Tulsa; a brother and his wife, Randy and Donna Brogdon, of Owasso, Okla-

homa; two sisters: Lori Brogdon and Denise Brogdon, both of Tulsa. and six nieces and nephews.

Ida Alice Knox, age 92, was carried into the presence of the Lord Saturday, October

23, 2010, in Bentonville, Arkansas. Ida was born June 10, 1918, near Lamar, Colorado to Lee

Rollie and Bertha May Creech Forsythe. On August 29, 1936, Ida was united in marriage with

David Neil Knox in Fairview, Oklahoma. A few years later they heard the salvation Pentecostal

message for the first time at the Chester Elm Grove Assembly of God Church and Ida began her

faithful walk with the Lord for 69 years, 53 as a Licensed Minister. She and her husband, an A/G

ordained minister, pastored Assembly of God churches in West Texas and in New Mexico and

as teacher and minister in Oklahoma. At 92 Ida still read her Bible through every year and regulary attended the

house of God and she was often heard saying, God is Good!

She has left behind a rich heritage of her faithfulness to the Lord and she will be missed?

She is survived by her daughters Mary Lowry and husband Lester of Enid, OK and Ida May Jobe and husband Bobby

of Dallas, TX; brother Raymond Forsythe of Pensacola, FL and sister Doris Jeffries of Aline, OK; 6 grandchildren, 13

great grandchildren. She was proceded in death by her husband Reverend David Neil Knox, her son David Leon

Knox and her daughter Nancy Marie Hanson.

Levurn DrydenLevurn Luther Dryden, 92, was born on August 5, 1918 and passed away October 26,

2010. He married Bonnie Merle Greene on February 5, 1940 and their home was blessed

with two wonderful children Ron and Paula. Reverend Dryden spent many years in the

Pentecostal Holiness. He was Ordained with the Assemblies of God on November 23,

1982 in the Tennessee District and transferred to Oklahoma in 1988. Funeral services

Faye and I want to wish you and your family the very best Christmas Season ever! This is the time when we reflect on all the good things that God has provided. We trust that you will take time to enjoy.

We celebrate the birth of Christ and yet we realize that the birth

was a prelude to the death. Without the death and the resurrec-

tion, salvation would not exist.

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it dies, it bringeth forth much fruit.“ John 12:24 KJV

Throughout the ages, we are able to see the revelation of the plan

of God.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jer 29:11 KJV

Reflect on the plan God has for your life. Celebrate the victories;

realize you are an over-comer as you face new challenges; and,

understand the strength that He provides.

I want to take time to express my appreciation for the sup-

port shown to Faye and me in our new role of ministry.

It has been exciting to see how God is at work in our

churches.

Thank you, for your support of The Next Generation

Campaign. I am convinced that this project is part of

God’s plan for this Generation. Simply worded, I believe

that a new camp facility is included in the plan of God for

Oklahoma and for future generations that will impact our Fellow-

ship. I trust that you have taken the initiative to go on line - www.

thenextcampaign.org - and take note of the construction progress.

We will soon have a camp setting that will be second to none.

I am convinced that we are a strong denomination because of

our mission’s efforts. If you want to be blessed of God, increase

your missionary vision! I know of no greater mission field than

the opportunities afforded through camp ministry. Some may be

hesitant for fear of the impact on their local church budget. How-

ever, just the opposite will happen. God’s blessings pursue those

who follow His heart!

Yes, we DO NEED large donations. Yet the real need is for total

participation. As Oklahoma catches the vision

of what God can do through each of us WE

WILL see this camp built for the Glory of

God. Additionally, we need people

telling the story, promoting the proj-

ect, and interceeding in prayer.

I am reminded of a gentleman

who attended one of our NEXT

Generation Banquets. At the end

of the evening, he handed me fif-

teen dollars. He said, “I am on a fixed

income and only receive fifty dollars a

month but want to be a NEXT Generation

Partner.”

Immediately my thought was to return the money and express my

appreciation; however, something internally stopped me. It were

as if God said, “This man will be blessed because of his faith and

his effort.”

As I reached to receive the money, I noticed a pledge card in his

hand. I asked, “Sir, do you pray?” He quickly responded, “Every

morning.”

I asked if he would commit to pray daily for the new camp project,

to which he quickly responded in the positive. Today - I ask you -

“Will you commit to pray daily for the new camp project?”

For me, the song is my song: “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the

Year.” My “kid” instincts come alive this time of year. And, yet,

I’ve mopped up that childish enthusiasm more than once as I hit

the busy malls and department stores with a spiritually prodded

meditation:

What is it that you really need that you have been waiting for Christmas to provide?

Really, I think we should ask ourselves that probing question. For

me, NOTHING. I mean, should what I’ve been waiting for be that

which “mysteriously” appears under my tree?!? (OK, it would be

nice to receive a “paid in full” notice from my house mortgage

company. But, another sweater…or scarf…?) I think that most of

us are more blessed than we probably care to admit especially

when it comes time for the gift exchange.

So, what is this Christmas Spirit all about?

There’s something much deeper than the traditions and even fam-

ily, togetherness, home and familiarity. I’ve heard people say, “it’s

just not the same this year.” My heart goes out to them. What do

we do with a Christmas that is supposed to be “the most wonder-

ful time of the year”?

We go back…back to why we have it to start with!

The awe-inspiring biblical account of Christmas records in Luke

2:19, “But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them

in her heart.” And, when Jesus was separated from His parents

and later found teaching in the temple, Luke 2:51 says, “But his

mother treasured all these things in her heart.” Mary, the mother

of Christ, is still keeping this experience deep within her…some

twelve to fifteen years later. We need to take a lesson from this

priceless figure, Mary, by allowing the story to go beyond shallow.

The Christmas Spirit is not shallow, but deep. It’s a spirit that is

full of the mystery and majesty of Christmas, a spirit that still

glows on December 26th. So, let’s ponder, let’s allow the story to

settle in on us: God became a baby, conceived in the womb of a

nervous Jewish teenager, born in a little, insignificant town called

Bethlehem, wrapped in strips of cloth, laid in a hay-filled manager

for a bed, to a world that would not have even known about his

birth had it not been for a heavenly announcement to a group of

ragtag, untrustworthy shepherds on a hillside in the middle of the

night…in the middle of no where. Wow, that’s deep and worthy of

a deeper celebration!

Merry Christmas, from our family to yours.

2010 LFTL Tour Special ThanksTo all Light-for-the-Lost givers, please accept my deep gratitude

for your participation in this year’s tour. I am happy to say that it

was a BIG success! Many new faith promises from churches and

councilmen were added across our great state. A special thanks

also to the host churches, traveling team, guest speakers, steak

teams and district men’s leadership team. Looking forward to

sending more funds through this historic missions endeavor than

ever before.

As we are fast approaching the Christmas season, I have to admit that this year my view may be a little altered. Normally I can not wait to climb up into the attic and retrieve the countless boxes and tubs

filled with the sentimental and the shiny. However, as time is quickly changing the leaves and

adding a chill to the air, I find myself thinking of more than just the season of Christmas, I find

myself assessing a Father’s love. I remember when both of my boys were born, holding them

for the first time, cradling them in my arms, and in that moment my perception of God the Fa-

ther changed. I realized that He sent His son to be born a helpless, dependent baby, knowing

all too well what He was born to do. It had to be somewhat bittersweet. If you have children,

think about the moment they were born, the immense sense of pride, love and purpose you

felt. Now think about our heavenly Father, at the emergence of His son, salvation made flesh

and bone, was He grieved at the thought of Emmanuel taking on the sin of man? And was that

thought conflicted with an overwhelming passion for His lost children?

As many of you know, our son Grayson was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma Cancer just a few

short months ago. He will turn 3 years old in December and we are looking forward to a

great celebration! As Gray’s father, I have to admit at times I feel so powerless when it

comes to this disease. I believe it is our nature as men to want to be able to solve

our children’s problems, to keep them from harm and to do everything possible to

make sure when they lay their heads down to sleep, they feel loved and pro-

tected. And it is because of those feelings that at times I am conflicted with

the thought that to make him better, he has to endure suffering. Of course, our

daily prayer is for God’s instantaneous healing, however if He chooses to heal

him through medicine we accept that as well. And so I turn to the example of

my supernatural Father as my guide. He sent His son as a gift, a gift that offers

salvation for man. But please remember, it was not just His death that holds

that salvation, it is also the journey of Christ’s life that holds the key, through

His teaching and example that gives us the strength, peace, hope and joy to walk

through this world, even when this world is filled with suffering. There can never be

a destination without a journey. And so during this Christmas season, I will embrace

the baby who was born to bring me life, but I also will acknowledge the Father who chose

suffering to complete that life, and through that journey of suffering, has brought to me more

hope than I could ever know.

/ CHILDRENS

The earliest Christmas memory that I can remember is when I was about 4yrs old, and woke up a little earlier than my mom and dad. I walked into the living room and saw all of the presents lying under our tree.

What happened next I can only describe as temporary

holiday insanity. I started opening presents left and

right. Some of them weren’t even mine. They were ones

that my mom and dad had gotten for each other. I was

having the time of my life, until mom and dad came

into the living room. From the look on their faces, I

could tell they weren’t having near the holiday fun I

was having. Years later I found out that not only did I

wake up earlier than my parents that morning, but it

seems that I celebrated Christmas a few days earlier as

well, on December 21st, which also happened to be my

mom’s birthday.

Merry Happy Christmas Birthday, Mom!

Everyone loves receiving gifts, but gifts seem a little

more special when they are wrapped. We’ve all had

that certain someone who hands you a gift in a Wal-

Mart sack and says ”Sorry, I didn’t have time to wrap it

for you.”

Gifts just seem more special when some one takes the time to wrap it in pretty paper and place a bow on it.

This Christmas I pray that as the holiday memories are

forming in your family, that you take time to reflect on

the significance of the gift that God has given to us.

Even the gift that God gave us on that first Christmas

was wrapped, and indeed it was special.

8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a man-ger.”  13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,  14 “Glory to God in the highest heav-en,  and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” Luke 2:8-14

Joyous Christmas Greetings from Oklahoma Girls Ministries!

The Lord has been so good to me over this past year and I

am so grateful for all His blessings! Has everything gone

exactly the way I wanted or thought it should go? No, but

even in the midst of challenges, adversity, and changes I

know that God still loves me and He is always good.

When my children were little they were always concerned that we

be at our home on Christmas Eve so that Santa Claus would be

able to deliver presents to them. They were afraid Santa wouldn’t

know if they were at Grandmas! This holiday season is a little

bittersweet for me- I will celebrate in a new city, a new home,

a new church . But I’m not worried about Santa Claus knowing

where I am. I know that Emmanuel, God with us knows where I

am! Jesus, Emmanuel, is God with me! No matter where I am or

what is going on in my life. He is the continuous joy in my life

and especially during this wonderful holiday when we celebrate

His birth.

If 2011 is as blessed as this past year it will be phenomenal and I

can’t wait!

South Africa with National Girls Ministries! What a life-changing experience to travel across the world and

be able to see the love of Jesus at work in the lives of women

and girls like me, but not like me! When I start feeling sorry for

myself all I have to do is remember those children in South Africa

whose lives have been so devasted by HIV and yet they have

such joy and love that it radiates from their very eyes!

Thanks to everyone who supported my trip and prayed for me- I

could sure feel your prayers and the trip went without a hitch.

When Brother Cargill invited me to be the coordinator for the Church Multiplication Network in Oklahoma, I knew the challenge would be daunting.

With already approximately 480 churches in our state, some would ask, “Why do we

need more churches? The one’s we have aren’t full yet.” Sound familiar? I’m sure

you have heard it if not thought it yourself. Simply stated, why plant new churches

when many churches that already exist need revitalization and renewal? The answer

to this question goes back to the Great Commission. “Go into all the world and

preach the gospel to every creature,” Jesus said. The church in Jerusalem had more

room for growth in the first few years of church history, but the disciples began going

to Samaria, Caesarea, and eventually to the regions beyond. Why go if what they had

was not fully saturated? Why build another grocery store in a town that already has

one? Do you get my drift?

People want to choose the size, type, style, and genre of church they attend just as they demonstrate a preference as to which gro-cery store they shop.

Several months ago we announced a Boot Camp for potential

church planters. The plans were canceled because there were

not enough registrants according to the Assemblies of God

Church Planting Network (AGCMN) in Springfield. Since that time

changes have been made as to the availability and location of

church planting boot camps across America. We have been asked

by the AGCMN to host a Boot Camp for our region on February 21-25,

2011, at North Church in Oklahoma City. We are committed as the host

district for this upcoming Boot Camp. I encourage you to consider this training

week if you are a potential church planter, if you have already launched a church and

need help moving it forward, or if you are considering sponsoring a church and want

to learn more about how you can help a plant succeed.

Registration is available on line at www.ag.org/cmn. Choose the tab “BootCamps”

and follow the instructions. This link will be available by December 1. New Boot

Camp curriculum has been written and we encourage every registrant to purchase

your materials as soon as they are available from AGCMN. If you have further ques-

tions please don’t hesitate to call me (580.255.2745) or Darren Pilcher, District

Church Ministries Director (405.475.1100).

Those who attend the Boot Camp will be assisted by “table coaches.” These people

will motivate church planters in making decisions and formulating plans that ac-

centuate the success of a church plant. I invite those interested in being table

coaches to attend a special Coach Training Seminar to be held February 3-4,

2011, at Spring Creek AG, in Edmond. Please contact me at ron.meador@

planting.
