Old Bar Public School Success by the Sea Newsletter Zone Athletics Carnival Last Friday Mrs Hinton and Mrs Thomas took 32 students to the Zone Athletics Carnival in Tuncurry. The students were exceptional in their behaviour, team spirit and pa- tience when waiting for their events. As a result the following students have made it to the Hunter Re- gional Carnival which will be held in Newcastle on Friday 30th August. Charlie Pitt- 8yr boys 100m; Nicholas Yam- 9 yr boys 100m, jun- ior boys 200m and the junior boys relay team; Nicholas Petrou- Junior boys 800m and junior boys relay team; Ryley Burge- junior boys relay team; Jude Jennings- junior boys relay team; Daniel Stevens- 11yr boys 800m; Jaxon O’Connor- 11 yr boys shot put; Molly Arens- senior girl 800m; Rosanna Jennings- 11 yr girl high jump; Lara Slade- junior girl shot put. Congratulations to all students in- volved. A big thanks to those parents who assisted with packing the gazebo away Kodaly Recorder Program Students in 2/3H, 3/4S, 3/4G, 3/4D and 4/5T continued the Kodaly re- corder program with Mrs Jane Porst this week. This program will run un- til week 4, term 4 and has a cost of $20. So you child doesn’t miss out on these lessons, payment and notes are due in by 14th August. Premiers Spelling BeeNext Tuesday Stage 3 classes will hold the school level Pre-miers Spelling Bee to commence in the hall at 9.30am. Parents are welcome to come and watch.

SRC Induction AssemblyNext Monday there will be a whole school assembly at 2pm in the hall to induct the second semes-ter’s SRC Representatives. Stu-dents in Years 2-6 have voted for their class reps. These students will take their oath and receive their badges at this assembly.

Kinder Orientation Parent SessionIt’s that time of the year again where we look at our Kinder Orientation program. If you have, or you know of someone that has a child starting school next year could you please see the office for an enrolment form and put the following dates for parents/ carers on your calendar:• Thursday 5th September, 10.30-11.00am, Kindergarten rooms, components of a literacy lesson;• Thursday 12th Septem-ber, 12.30-1.00pm, Kindergarten rooms, Components of a Numer-acy lesson;• Tuesday 17th September,2.00pm-3.00pm, in the hall. Meet 2013 Kinder parents and have a chat about their experiences in an informal setting.A night meeting is planned for par-ents on Wednesday 9th October. This meeting will give you informa-tion about school uniforms, P&C and the Kindergarten curriculum.
